Good Afternoon All,

I registered for A&P II for the summer. I wanted to know is it doable to take during the 6 week session?

Thank you

I will be doing A&P II five week course this summer also. I have created a thread on it to get others advice a month or so ago, here is the thread if your interested: https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/p-5-week-800119.html#post7052704

Thank you havehope!! :)

Specializes in Psychiatry.

It's doable as long as you are prepared to study a lot and don't slack at all. It's a lot of complicated material in a condensed period of time. I am taking it this summer as well, so I don't have much advice to offer other than that! Good luck!! :)

I took Them back to back this past summer. It was hard work, but if you are committed to studying, and willing to do the reading you should be fine. I don't consider myself gifted at science, but have done just fine by being a diligent student. Good luck.

I took them last summer. A&P 1 the first Summer session and A&P 2 in the second session. Ours were only 4 weeks long. I got an A in both..so it is totally doable!

Thanks!! :) What sources did you use to study for A&P?

I actually just used the book and the models for the lab supplied by the school. It was just a ton of memorization for both. Much to my surprise even after Fall semester I still remember a ton from A&P. It stuck!

WOW...Excellent that you could still retain a lot of the info from A&P. :)

I'll be taking A&P II over the summer as well. I think I've mentioned to you before that I had taken A&P previously but my credit didn't transfer when I transferred to a different college. When I took A&P before, and what I plan to do again for A&P I and II, is I used a lot of flashcards for the terms, I recorded my lectures and listened to them in the car or while exercising, and I drew pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. I drew out everything I had to learn, the heart, the digestive system, whatever system we were on, I drew and doodled and labeled and then colored them in with Crayola color pencils. I have a binder full of drawings, lol. I'm a very hands on and visual learner, so between those three things, I retained a LOT from taking A&P previously, I still remember so much.

I also used YouTube a lot, as it has a wealth of videos available for every section of the body. I had some amazing video's I always referred to for the digestive system. I also looked for songs... yep, songs, that people would make about parts of the body. You may have to sift through some really horribly done video's to find ones that were put together well.

For example, when you get to the bloodflow through the heart, which trust me you will see in A&P, this video is awesome. I have the entire song memorized and it's awesome. The song is actually from the old show "Happy Days", and someone on YouTube took the song and put the lyrics in the video to help follow along.

I personally loved A&P, learning about the inner workings of the body was so interesting to me.
