A&P I: The Summer '05 Anatomy and Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Okay, so am I the only one crazy enough to be taking this during the summer?:uhoh21:

I've been so excited to finally get to take part in one of these things.

Anyways, school starts June 6 here. I bought my texts Wednesday (Marieb: Text and Study Guide-6th Edition; Lab-Cat Version-8th edition), and am pretty comfortable with Chapter One. I love the website, although it looks like my Prof won't be using the "My Anatomy" stuff. boo.

Can't wait to get this thread rolling. How is everyone else feeling?

Hi! I'm new here. :) I'm taking A&P this summer, too. This is my first class since Winter semester 1997, and we just brought our former 28 week preemie home a month ago, so I'm completely insane! :rotfl: Unfortunately, it was now or never for me to go back to school. Well, not unfortunate, I just would have liked Cameron to be a little older! Luckily my class is in the evening, so my husband's home. :)

We're doing a tissues lab tonight. How are you all doing?

Congratulations on your new baby. What a neat blessing, how long was Cameron in the hospital? I hope things go really well for you.

Thank you! :) He was in the NICU until very recently. They would have liked to have kept him longer, but the NICU was overflowing and I felt comfortable bringing him home on oxygen and monitors.

How is everyone doing? Which text(s) are you using? I'm using Hole's 10th edition.

Congratulations, Tiffany!! :balloons:

We want to see pics! ;)

A couple of weeks left til classes start for me--June 6th. I'm a bit stressed at this point, because I figured I would be taking a leave from work for the summer so I could devote all my time to my Anatomy class, lab, and Adolescent Psych class. Well, that idea was shot down by my boss..she says she'll put me down to 12 hours a week, but that's the best she can do.

I'm wondering whether I should stay there..it's Target..I was trying to stay with them because I've been there almost 2 years (except for my leave LAST summer), and was hoping for a letter of rec from someone there..but I NEED "A's" in these courses more..Trying to pull up my GPA from when I started school almost 10 years ago (I'm trying to finish up my first degree in psych, plus pre-reqs, so I can apply to accelerated).

So that's my story.

Anyways, not sure if this will help that much, but something I'm trying to do is learn the prefixes and suffixes associated with anatomy (Those of us with Marieb have the lists in the opening and closing pages of our books). If any of those using different books don't have this, let me know and I'll be happy to type it up for you in the next week or two. I really think that by learning the prefixes and suffixes, it will help us look at a word and KNOW what it relates too--does this make sense?

Another thing with the Marieb that I recommend is the lecture notes from the website. If you print them out, it's a VERY detailed outline of the chapter. I've only finished Chapter 1 so far, but the lecture notes are VERY close to feeling like you read the whole thing again.

I think that's about it for now..gotta go get ready for work (sigh)...Have a great night, everyone!! :p

Iam using Chancellors study guides, plus things I have picked up at Barnes and Nobles bookstores. I also am lucky to work in a hospital which has a library we can use any time day or night. I was supposed to be studying the bones yesterday, but was really burnt out after work, and didn't study, I was going to study today, but the weather is changing and we had to move our garage sale up and it's today. Tonight I am working as an on-call on my old job, so, I am going to try to hit the books sometime this evening.Oh, and I thinks pics are a wonderful idea, I am doing orientation on peds right now. what an encourging thing, babies always make me smile.

Hi everyone,

I am taking A&P this summer and I just finished my first exam. It has been 20 years since I graduated from college and I was so nervous about taking this test that my hands were shaking. Luckily, I pulled through just fine:) I found that the online multiple choice and outlines where helpful with my Hole's Anatomy book.

Earlier pictures of Cameron can be found here. I haven't updated that one in a long time, though!

Here's one from the day he was born:

Here's one of him with his big sister from last weekend, grabbed a photograph after his bath, before putting his O2 back on:

Here's another from two days ago, just before his bath:

For anyone who is interested, Aaron's memorial site is here. I've been meaning to finish it for quite some time. I feel awful that I haven't yet, but I couldn't bring myself to do it while I was pregnant with Cameron, especially knowing it could happen again.

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well! :D

what a beautiful baby, what a miracle. I am glad you finally got him home. He is such a sweet looking little boy

I start A & P I after being out of college for almost 5 years on Monday. I picked up my Hole's Anatomy book and lab book and I am super nervous! For one thing, I am VERY tenderhearted when it comes to animals (that's why I'm a vegetarian actually) and I know that we will be dissecting a frog and a cat by the lab book...not sure how I'm going to do, but it's a necessity to pass so I'll just hang in there the best I can. Any one have any advice?
