A&P I & II @ Tarrant County College

Published

hello!! :)

first, let me start off by apologizing if i am posting this in the wrong forum, but i thought since many in this forum are taking anatomy and physiology and pre-reqs, i thought it would be best to post my questions here.

i am a new rn looking to go back to school for my rn-bsn. i am looking at going to utarlington for the program, but am needing just a few pre-reqs before i apply. i want to take these at tcc. my a&p is 7-8 yrs old and although i could fill out forms to forego this class and not have to retake it, i really enjoyed my a&p classes and feel that taking them again will only benefit me more and i may learn a thing or 2 newer things! :D

i have searched through allnurses.com and cannot find what i am looking for, so i was wanting to know from students who have taken pre-reqs at tcc, which instructors would you recommend? and what would you recommend for the class now that you have taken or are taking the class? besides a&p i & ii, i need sociology or anthropology, and college algebra. i have everything else uta requires. i figure if i start looking now, i can take these classes for spring 2011, while also working as an rn (still looking for an internship). i have looked on ratemyprofessor.com, but i have been out of school for 4 yrs and really need some guidance from current students please. any information or advice would be considered and greatly appreciated!

thank you in advance!! :tku:

Jadu--

Which TCC campus? For your proposed program, Sociology is the only thing I can comment on.

At my home campus- Southest Campus

We dont have so many spaces for the lab so they limit the number of students. Usually, registration for the new semester complete after a week after the registration day.

For example, the first day to register for Spring 2011 is November 15, 2010. So be ready, AP1&2 fill up really fast, especially the easy professor.

About A&P professor, Dr. ***** is really easy, he has take home test, open book, open note test..... I dont take him, so i dont know. but if you want to register for his class, be hurry, 1 hour after the website open for register, his class will be full.

I have Dr. **. He is so different. His test is very hard, critical thinking, 60 question for 60 minutes, tricky question.... But believe me, i do learn tremedously. I hear a lot nursing students told me that he prepare us for nursing school. He's very funny and willing to help you. I just enjoy his class a lot. If you want to learn, take him. If you just want to pass with an easy one, he's not the one for you.

At my campus, we also have several professors who are easy... that what i hear.

Hope it helps.

Good luck, or whatever it is, getting to register within an hour of registration opening at 0001 (12:01 a.m.)--I was never able even to log on, until about the 2nd day of registration. And if you're working that day, your normal 12-hr. shift, well . . .

usually the tcc system did not open at 12am, they open at 2am.

usually i check at 12, and then check back at 2. It's like i got no sleep just to get the registration done.

friendly terms of service reminder

per the terms of service of this site, please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

chorkle and vivian8572,

thank you both for the reply! i took a&p i & ii at tcc-southeast campus about 7-8 yrs ago. i am planning to apply for the rn-bsn program next year and wanted to take a&p over again just because i took it so long ago and because i really enjoyed the class. vivian8572, i know both the instructors your speaking of. i actually had dr. ***** the 1st time i took a&p i & ii, and have never taken dr. **. i am planning to take the female instructor this coming spring (i think she changed her name) who i hear has her notes we print out, which i hope will help. thanks for giving me the heads up on the registration date. i checked tcc's website last week, and didn't see the spring schedule posted but i will keep rechecking.

chorkle--yes sure any info on sociology you can share would be greatly appreciated! :)

thank you both once again for the help!

Jadu--

What I would like to share with you, re Sociology, might run afoul of allnurses' terms of service, as tnbutterfly has so opportunely (is that a word?) reminded us.

So, I will pm you. (I think I can do that; and that's assuming I understand what pm means--I'm now a certified Old F**t, so it takes me a while, sometimes, to discern the meaning of common abbreviations.)

Regards.
