UW Oshkosh Accel Online BSN Oct 2012 Cohort

I was just accepted to the May 2012 cohort. I had applied to the October 2011 cohort but was not accepted due to no CNA experience and not having my prereqs complete prior to the application deadline. (that should tell you something).

The TEAS V was not that hard but I highly reccommend the study guide. The questions on the test are not anything like the ones on the practice tests but they will steer you in the right direction as far as what to study. I got in the 98th percentile by only studying the study guide.

The interviews are typical fair. They ask you the questions you would expect But they are more geared toward why you applied to THIS program.

So to summarized my reccommendations (for what they are worth):

-Have a decent prereq GPA. It doesn't have to be great (mine was 3.2) but it does have to be well over the minimum of 2.75

-Have CNA experience (big one).

-Have all of you pre-reqs done prior to application.

Although the CNA experience and prereq completion are not requirements, not having them will make you less competitive than someone who does have those checks in the box.

Awesome.. thank you so much! I did have a question though. Since the application deadline is mid semester, I will be halfway done with my last prereq when I apply. Do you think that will be okay? My gpa is good and I have a CNA job right now. Hopefully, that will be enough! Do you still have the TEAS manual and wanna sell it?! :)

If you get your transcript in before the decisions are made you might be okay. Not sure.

Sorry but I threw away the study guide after I took the test.

Hey! I was also just accepted to the May 2012 cohort after being denied for the October 2011 cohort. My GPA was also about a 3.2 from UW Madison, and I also scored high on the TEAS V test. I also recommend the practice test-it really helps prepare you for the type of questions they ask. The one I got was just an online practice test that you could take twice, and I ultimately only took once. As for CNA experience, I didn't have much the first time around, and I still had an anatomy lab left to take. When I applied the second time around, I was working full time as a CNA and all my classes were done, which ultimately allowed me to get in.

From what I was told, it really helps that you can show that you are prepared and have given a lot of thought to how you are going to be successful in the program (i.e knowing where the finances are coming from, how you are going to cope with the stress, what you will contribute to the program, what makes you think you will be sucessful in this program, etc)

I applied to the October 2012 cohor for UW's Accel. BSN program. At this stage, I am so very nervous. I made the mistake of reading some posts from past applicants who seem way more qualified than I do and now I am physical nauseated from anxiety.

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone else out there is applying for the October 2012 Cohort for UW's Accel. BSN?! I am getting all my ducks in a row to apply and was hoping to find some friends out there who also might be applying.
I am getting excited (and nervous) and I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.
Also, anyone have any info on the TEAS? I'm curious about competitive scores, etc... Is it really that difficult? Should I buy the study guide? I've heard a lot of different things so if anyone has information on this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I'm not sure about all the statistics for the whole program but I have a 4.0 for my admission GPA (only the highest 4 science courses are counted) and I did well on the TEAS exam (upper 10th percentile I think?). My undergrad gpa was above a 3.5 and I have CNA experience as well. I was admitted to the October 2012 cohort but unfortunately could not attend because I was pregnant and due in January during the 2 week bootcamp (otherwise I would have done it!)

I graduated from the program several years ago , what stats are you wanting to know? Its a fantastic program with a NCLEX pass rate that is very high. Good luck.
