WGU / Straighterline advice?

Straighterline is great if you're a self starter. Check out the bundle packages they offer, can save you money if you're a quick study. They range anywhere from the month-to-month or three, four and even a ten course option. They range in time from 3-4 months to 1 year for the 10 class option.

I am also going to be applying to WGU. I agree that the program looks great. Im also a mother of 2. A lot of people on here have very good things to say about the program.

I looked into straighterline for the Micro class but didn't really like the idea of doing the lab at home, so i went through Edukan. The class is more expensive (they do accept financial aid as well) but I really like it. I'm actually almost done with it, 2 weeks left and I have thus far maintained an A average.

I am taking my sociology class through straighterline. It's self paced.. Im about halfway done. It's been okay, I have no complaints about it.

I'm so glad you went through with Edukan! The sciences are so much better with Edukan. Which college did you end up choosing?

I choose Colby college and I'm glad I did. I really like the staff. I decided that I would just pay out of pocket for the class cause I didn't want to mess around with all the paperwork required for the financial aid. Well an advisor call me from the college to inform me that I could get the Peli grant and why I should do it. She really took the time to talk to me and made sure all my questions were answered. The truth is I knew all that stuff, I was just being lazy. The point is, I was really impressed with the level of support, even for a student who is taking only 1 course at their college.

Other times I have called and got great customer service as well.

And yes, I'm happy I choose edukan for this micro class too. Because of the cost of the class , i almost didn't do it.

Thanks for responding! Sounds like we are in a similar situation... would you be available to talk sometime about all of these potential pathways to nursing? I got nervous about StraighterLine because it's not accredited, and in case I don't get in to WGU i didn't want to be stuck with A & P and Microbiology credits that didn't transfer. I'm still feeling a bit confused and daunted by the path ahead, and am unsure if I should just do an associate's degree and then an RN to BSN bridge program, and then continue on to the NP program. It does seem though like WGU would be the best of all worlds, slower paced, online, etc.

If you're not set on WGU then you should do edukan. The community college that they partner you up with will be regionally accredited and should transfer to another college.

Hi Jaide06, how is the Sociology class at Straighterline? Are the exams proctored? Did you take another class with them? Did you enroll at WGU how is the process? I am planning to enroll at WGU soon but I would like to take some prereq before enroll. did you take Statistic at Straighterline?

I would def. take statistics somewhere else and transfer it to WGU. Usually the final in straighterline is proctored. You can actually download the syllabus on their website.

quick question,why is it not a good option to take statistics at straighterline. Just curious, because I have been thinking of taking it there. Thanks in advance.
