Question about transfer credits

Nursing Students Western Governors

If you have an Associates in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in a non nursing field, how many credits did you need to complete at for your MSN?

Anyone want ant to give me a ballpark of how many credits you had to take after transfer for your BSN? mSN?

I had an AAS (Nursing) and a BA (Liberal Arts). All I had to take were the 23 CU of nursing core. However, I had already completed biochemistry and microbiology as an undergrad. An none of your credits will transfer to the MSN - because they are undergraduate degrees. I was able to complete the program in one term in 2011.

Thank you! It seems as though they accepted almost none of my nursing classes. They want me to take 60 cu. I'm confused as to why none of my nursing degree classes seemed to be accepted as they were about 5 years ago.

All of the nursing classes are 'core' and you have to take those - nursing courses rarely transfer to any school. With 60CU to do, that's quite a few extras you have to take, as they give you credit for 50 just for being an RN. I'm assuming you are missing a lot of general ed they want?

Oh I thought that she meant 60 remaining for the MSN-that isnt considered a lot right? ...now for the BSN its a bit heavy.

The OP is doing the RN-to-MSN, not the RN-to-BSN.

ooh, I missed that.. then sure, that's fine - hardly anything!

By the way Beeker, I am still waiti on my evaluation-hoping to receive it by Monday. My background is similar. I have a Bachelors & Masters degree in Psychology and my ASN nursing. Im almost for sure that none of my Masters level courses will transfer but they wanted to transcript anyway even though I tried to have them excluded. As soon as I get word then I will let you know.

I really think it would help to see what others have had to take in similar situations. I feel a bit discouraged.

How many credits are core requirements that must be taken at ? I am going to search for the answer, but if anyone has already done the math.....off to count

Following as I am in a similar situation

So I just received my transcript eval and I am left with competency units for my RN to MSN. I am hoping to accelerate quickly, do you think 2 terms is doable? I have an idea for both community health as well as my capstone in hopes of getting an early preparation atart with my research. All advice, suggestion, recomendations are welcome. Thanks

Biochemistry and Stats were my only pre-reqs that werent met.
