Hi everyone,

I was just accepted into BSN program at West Coast University in Dallas TX for fall 2012. Has anyone graduated from this school? If so, was your experience positive or negative? Are the teachers great? What do you guys think about this school? It's extremely expensive!!!! Please help

Yes, I feel like they have more than given me ample opportunity to learn and prepare for the NCLEX. They offer many resources on helping you find a job and there is a NSNA chapter and other campus activities as well.

For anyone still following this post, I wanted to let you know that I successfully graduated on August 23rd. I start my new job at Methodist Dallas as an ED Nurse Intern tomorrow (9/22). I am scheduled to sit for my NCLEX on Nov 4th. I am currently working through the Virtual ATI program that the school provides after graduation to assist in prep for the NCLEX. If anyone has any questions, I am still happy to help however I can. [email protected].

Just to clarify you said classes are once a week for 5 hours correct? Is it possible to work a job in the medial field full time and still be able to pass this course? Thanks for your help!

I graduate from the Dallas Campus in late August - my tuition was around $64k including all books, uniforms, ATI Platinum fees, NCLEX fee (1x), BLS & ACLS Certs. I transferred in most pre-reqs. I know it has gone up, but not to $100k. Remember that the cost of living is much higher in California than Texas.

There will always be people willing to pay much much more than they should, which is why these schools stay in business.

At least this one has an 89% NCLEX pass rate, according to Texas BON.

Each class is 1 day a week but you take 3-4 classes per week, which means you will be on campus/clinicals 3-4 days per week. You will prob be able to work at first, but many reduced their schedules by the end of their degree. The program does get pretty intense, so there is a lot of outside studies/homework.

So I just applied to WCU in Dallas and I was wondering how long after submitting an application did it take for WCU to notify you whether you had been accepted to the University. Thanks!

You must schedule and complete the entrance exam before they will accept you. You will need to schedule an appointment with financial aide after. Once you plan your financing then you sign your final paperwork. They usually move along pretty quickly but you will need to take initiative to make the the calls to schedule the appts. Hope that helps!

I have toured the campus and taken the HESI exam already and applied for financial aid after I took the HESI and because I don't live in Texas I had to mail in my admissions application. I know that they received it last week (emailed me) and now I'm just waiting to hear from them. Perhaps I should call the financial aid office as you suggested.

Yes, I do recommend that and to follow up with admissions to make sure they approved all of your transfers.

Has anyone been awarded Financial Aid for WCU? If so, did it cover much of the tuition?

The college does not award or choose financial aid. This decision is made by the government. This is the same for all colleges that participate. WCU participates fully and although I did not personally qualify, I attended with many who did. The school has a full financial aid staff who will help you get the most from the choices out there. Remember, they want you to attend, so it is in their best interest to help you get it.
