Okay so im applying to uthscsa for the spring and was wondering if anyone knows what gpa they look at and any other helpful ideas to get an interview etc. my prereq gpa is 3.74 but my overall gpa is a 3.44...is that going to hurt my chances? i went in for a transcript review and debbie calculated the wrong gpa for me and i didnt notice until i got home. i hope they dont mess up with my application. eeeek im so nervous i wanna do everything possible to get in!!:D the only other place im applying to is sac but i much rather get my bachelor degree then an associates....

Specializes in ICU.

I'm currently packing Colorado! Listening to music on my laptop and i hear things bings from my email to tell me someone wrote something! Quick responses yay!

Cyclical, the color is black. They really aren't really strict on what type but they prefer all leather (though i've seem people with mesh) and it doesnt haven't to be full out black some dark grey in there works just as good. Some people buy clogs ($$$) but they swear by them! It's all up to how much you want to spend really haha.

Yes, I hate dressing up haha. I used to work at Express and I got tired of dressing up for things blah!

:D hi...I cant wait for spring 20100000.., but i dont know where to live :imbar cuz of two reasons: safety, and apartment costssss too much, so if anyone can suggest any place, I would appreciate it. I dont need no fancy apartment, around $400 $500, 1B/1bath. (close to medical center would be the best) and one last thing, Im kinda scared to walk home alone, so the neighborhood has to be safe abit. If anyone know anything. Please let me know. Thank youuu!!!!:banghead:

Golden, it's the medical center haha the area in itself isnt great...

Did you want to walk from your apt to school? because there are many apts just several minutes away.

If so there are 3 decent apts within walking distance? (like one across the street and two a block away)

I would say 400-500 is a stretch to live in the ones right next to school (i would say high 500's if not more)

there are some ads for roomates and places to rent on the uthscsa portal under classified ads. Good Lcuk Hunting.

They want you to dress professional casual, no torn jeans..they dont like sweats, There are not enough lockers for everyone but you do not need to bring books to school, so it works out (except for lab but that is just 1 book).

Shoes need to be black, less of any other color as possible.

Thansk for the advice. Just wanted to double check it was casual and no suits required;).

Anyone know what the last day to pay the tuition and fee? My financial aid disbursement day is Jan 4th. I will go to San Antonio this Monday to find the apartment. Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies from you guys, I just signed the contract with Windridge apt. Anyone live there? im kinda nervous cuz i dont know how it turns out to be, but anyway, hope things work out. Books are ridiculously expensive. Oh btw, anyone know information about scrubs, or stethoscopes ( prices, color), please let me know. Thank you.

I have been told by other students that you can wear any type or color of scrub that you want for monday and friday and you have to wear black pants for clinicals and we can by the tops at orientation or the heart to heart event (they are burnt orange). They didn't say anything about specifics in color of the stethoscopes. Mines blue;) I would recommend shopping online for scrubs cause they have a lot of great deals. There is also a scrub outlet at San Marcos and in New Braunsfels...and all the regular priced places around school. I got my books on amazon and saved a ton. Hope it helps.:specs:

...you can wear any color scrubs for MF skills lab; they do sell black scrub pants @ orientation but they don't mind if you buy them somewhere else as long as they're black. You can only get the burnt orange tops @ school, they have them during heart to heart but you can buy them some other time if you don't have the money @ the time; you wont need them until the 3rd week of class.

You'll spend a lot of money on books if you get them new from the bookstore so if you can find them on Amazon, go for it!!! Another thing, you really don't use ALL the required books, unless reading the chapters is your way of studying, otherwise mainly they serve to clarify something you don't understand from class notes. Bates, Fundamentals, Clinical Skills, Pharm, Med-Surg & APA are the books I used during 1st semester and some you use for second semester too.

They have no specific with stethescopes, basically just one you feel comfortable with but I wouldn't go all out buying a really expensive one until after you graduate. Most people I know just buy scrubs around school, there's a place on Medical dr NWuniforms, they give u a discount with your school ID, I'm sure other places around medical ctr do too.

Happy Shopping!! :)

Do some people wear their scrubs on thursday as well even though it is not required? And because I am curious...what kind of shoes are we required to wear in the skills lab?
