TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

I don't nderstand how you aren't in when someone with a 68 on the TEAS got in and had about the same gpa as you! I also didn't get anything, and it was my fourth time applying... It's devastating.

I emailed the admissions coordinator and she said the competition this semester was tougher than in past years. From what I've seen, having a previous degree weighs pretty heavily and so does the first attempts.

Believe me, I agree.

I spoke to my friend in the program and she says they really value the first attempts and the bachelors. The TEAS is apparently the least weighted. I guess the bachelor's thing makes sense coming from a business view point - you show that you can commit and complete a program (meaning they won't have to worry about losing your money).

Yeah I know. It's pretty tough not hearing back..I have been applying for two years.

But congratulations to everyone that succeeded and got accepted. You should feel very proud of yourself because it is very hard to get in. :-)

Yeah I understand all that but it's a little irritating, do I need to go get a bachelor's in business and then apply? Lol my boyfriend got into the program with a 3.92 and a 63 in the net(it was a few years ago). They told me they weigh heavily on the TEAS... More than anything else. I was advised not to worry about raising my gpa but to make a better teas score last time. I feel like they constantly change stuff. You should have been in!

What were your stats if you don't mind me asking.

GPA 3.86

TEAS 66

No bachelor's

2/4 first attempt A's

Do you think getting an associates degree would have any weight to it? Or just bachelors degrees?

Just bachelor's.

I believe just bachelor's. I have my Associates in science.

I know :( I am like, in denial. I want to go over there and tell them they made a mistake or something. Ugh. Sucks.

Yeah I know :-( I mean they do make mistakes. You never know. I told you that someone got accepted with lower stats than yours, go back a few pages. But don't give up. I have been applying for two years now. It's not fair to us who are trying to get their first degree and don't already have a bachelor's , but we can't give up. I'm keeping my options open for next semester and applying to an adn program as well.

I agree - it makes no sense to me as a first degree seeker either. Discouraging.

But good for you. I probably won't apply again. I got into UTMB, and still waiting to hear from UTHSC-Houston (but not very confident about them, critical thinking score wasn't great on the HESI). So I'm not sure what I'll do. Who knows. Not something I want to think about right now. Good luck to you - stay positive.
