OK, y'all, help me with this. I might be confusing myself! LOL! I was just reading TWU's policy regarding patho (BIOL 4344), and it looks like it basically says that I can take the class before the nursing program begins, but it is not required that I do so. However, if I do choose to take patho, and I bomb it (make a D or lower), it will affect my entry into the upper division nursing program because patho is part of the nursing curriculum. My big fear is that I will be taking patho on the Dallas campus, and I have not heard very good things about the class. Are there different instructors teaching the spring classes? I wonder if the online option for patho is available once we start the nursing program? I would consider the Denton class, but it is full. I'm starting to get nervous!
I don't believe that there are different teachers...I think they remain the same throughout semesters! But don't quote me on that because I'm not completely sure; I don't think you have to worry that much about the Dallas campus patho. I've heard that the class itself really isn't too bad, no matter the teacher, as long as you are prepared.
From what I've heard, the online patho is only available for those RN students who are trying to get their BSN, so I'm pretty sure undergrads can't take it.
Also, my advisor explained it this way: the policy regarding patho doesn't affect the ENTRY into upper division nursing, it effects the continuance of the upper division nursing, and it would be the same whether you take it now or in the spring, and I believe the same policy applies to ALL the upper division classes. So if you can take it this fall, I wouldn't let the policy scare you off

I have a question about the TEAS that I was curious if anyone could shed any light on for me. I took the TEAS in December, and did very well on it. Now I've just gotten my acceptance to the university and am getting ready to apply for the Nursing school, but the information I've found on the TWU website says that they'll only accept result from tests taken at PSI testing centers. My current university, where I took the test, is not listed on PSI's website. Does this really mean I have to take it again?

I'm mostly asking because it's my understanding that PSI centers only offer one form of the test, the one I've already taken, and if the test hasn't changed since December I don't think I'll be allowed to take it again.

You can go to ATI website and ask your transcript to be sent to TWU. It cost $25. In other words, it doesn't have to be a PSI site where you take your test. I did this way and TWU has received my score.

I'm registered for Patho in Dallas! I look forward to meeting you and anyone else taking it there! I'm moving from Killeen to Dallas at the beginning of August, so it will be nice to "know" a few people before I get there.

As for everybody asking about the TEAS test I called and talked to three of the advisers yesterday and they told me that as long as it was the TEAS V (version 5) that it didn't matter where you took it. If you took it through ATI you will have to log into their website and order a transcript to be sent to TWU. Your TEAS transcript will not show up in the pioneer portal, if you want to check on the status you will have to call them to find out. I called Cheryl Maddux and she was able to tell me.

They were using PSI testing sites because they were supposed to be more secure in their testing procedures, but TWU has had some problems with the PSI centers.

    Hello all!

I haven't posted in a while because I have been busy taking a summer chemistry class to boost my GPA. So this will be my 3rd and HOPEFULLY last time applying to TWU. My old GPA was a 3.73 I believe and I had a 72 on my TEAS, and I did not get in. My new GPA is 3.84 and I will be taking the TEAS again because I was told that getting above an 80 is competitive, unless your GPA is a darn 4.0 which mines isn't. SO here I go again. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask because I have been through this quite a few times. I wish everyone the best of luck guys!

No I believe not. It doesn't have to be taken at PSI. If you like I can give you Heathers email, who is the nursing advisor at Dallas. She can confirm that for you.
