My former coworker has submitted more than one application to Parkland and really wants to work there. They interviewed her for a position in the ER, but declined to hire her.
I also know of many others who have been applying to no avail. There's no shortage of people applying to Parkland, but the HR staff at Parkland is being shortsighted with their hiring, IMHO.

An article in this morning's Dallas Morning News attributed most of the blame for their huge June deficit to staffing expenses due to the "nursing shortage".... seriously. http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro/20130724-dallas-parkland-memorial-hospital-saw-5.3-million-net-loss-last-month.ece
Hmm - - - Could it be that they have a history of inadequate staffing that they CMS has forced to correct so now they are having to scramble - using contract nurses to fill all those "new" positions that should have been in place all along? Once again, nursing is thrown under the bus... blamed for problems that were created by previous administrators.
At any rate, Parkland is actively recruiting and (I have been told) hiring new grads to beef up staffing.
