Brookhaven Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Anyone here applying to Brookhaven's nursing program next month for their Fall 2012 admission?

I am..I need to take the HESI one more time in hopes of getting a higher score. The only support class that I do not have complete is End of Life so I hope with a higher HESI score and a good interview score I will have enough points to get in!

The first eight weeks is pretty much mon-Friday with weekends off. Then you start clinical one day a week and will need a preclinical paperwork day. If your work is in the evenings then it could be fine. You'll need plenty of time to study too. Your schedule will be so busy that you can only concentrate on a few days at a time. I've worked part time/24 hours since the beginning. Looking back I don't see how I was able to do it the first semester. Each semester brings less hours requirement. I would say your schedule will really open up the third semester. Then by the final semester, you'll be down to one clinical day and one lecture day.

Thank you kickymarcia. I hope will manage to work part time like you did because I really cannot afford not to work. All the best to you.

I think working is definitely possible during school. Try to work somewhere that you can change your schedule at a whim. Clinical days can get changed at last minute, extra classes added, and we have no power to change it. My clinical group was the only one with Friday clinicals last semester, and in third semester clinical days will be different every five to six weeks. I guess what I'm trying to say is be flexible and ask your family/friends/job to be understanding.

Hi there!

I am completly new to this board, but I am taking my Hesi on 9/18/2012 and I am completly freaked out. I am so nervous about the grammar part i am terrible about identifying adjectives and what not. This will be my first time to apply anywhere for nursing. Has anyone taken the Hesi that can help like whats the hardest part? Also i have taken All my four classes and have A&p2 (which is 2 points ) and fine arts(which is 1 point for some reason) and my GPA is over a 3.0 so i have a total of 10 points i think.... what do i need to make on the hesi to be competetive???

thanks

The hardest part for me was the vocabulary and the grammar. I made a composite score of 93 and some change. So I received 18 pts from the Hesi. I applied with 30.9 pts. I did not have patho or end of life but all other classes done. I would say aim for 20 pts that would put yout at 30 but also try and take some more support classes. Any other questions just ask.
