The deadline is the last Friday in March. From now on I going to open my options because I am now aware competition is pretty fierce for jobs; for some reason I just assumed a job was going to just appear and float down in my hand like a feather, how naive. BTW I graduate this upcoming May. I am starting to get pretty freaked out about jobs now. And, have you all heard anything about Scott & White? Seton was my first choice, but I'm just making more room.

How long is the med/surg internship? And, is there a contract?

My friend's was 8 weeks. Mine was 16, but I was in the ED. And yes there is a contract. I believe Med-Surg is a year. Mine was 18 months.

If you are a GN pay is 18, if you are a RN, the pay is 20, until you get off of internship, then it goes to 24.90, which is base for Staff nurse.

Unless they've changed it, which i dont think they have, this wasn't the case last June when I was an intern. We got the same base rate as a GN that we did as a Staff Nurse. There was no pay change. And the base wasn't 18, it was 24.47, which has now increased to 24.90.

Mind you, this was for the ICU but I doubt that the floor/unit mattered.

Those rates were for us in January, so it may have changed! It was 18, for GN, then when we passed boards it was 20, then 24.90 when we got off. Who knows, at least they know base is 24.90 :)

That sucks that they dropped the GN rate. Oh well.

Was yours June 2012? Or June 11. Mine was Jan 2012, so if those were the rates that you were given then it went up, but if it was the year before then yeah it did go down..

Hey guys. So, I had my phone interview. I don't think it went well at all; it was a very strange interview...They didn't ask me anything about my clinical experiences. The only nursing related question they asked was what nursing school I attended. I'm a little stunned by the whole experience. They said I wouldn't hear anything until next week, to be honest I don't feel like I'm going to get a position. I'm really disappointed.

I'm from June 2011. I can't imagine why they would drop the rate for GNs. That's less than what they start new grads in Austin.

I heard that there was such a high turn over rate with people leaving during and after the internship before contract was up, and they were losing money. I'm not sure how true that is though.
