Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program - Winter 2014

U.S.A. Tennessee

I am in the process of completing my packet. All I have left is uploading my transcript, finishing my letter of intent and waiting on responses from my clinical instructors. I am so excited! I am 90% sure I am applying for Adult Critical Care unless I change it at the last minute. I'm from the Nashville area.

Who else is applying and where are you from? :)

I applied to UT Medical (waiting to hear back from them) but I'm applying to Vanderbilt's Winter residency program as well. My first goal out of nursing school was to move to Nashville and I ended up with no luck in the job market there since May (we won't count the number of applications for the city). I'm waiting to finish my application till I hear from UT next week but I'm from NM and I'm applying for pediatrics, I want to be a NICU nurse and eventually become a NNP

Hi! I have just finished the application. I'm from St Louis, MO but did my nursing school in Atlanta. I really hope to get an interview but I'm a little nervous about lack of volunteer experience in the past 6 months.

hey guys I do not know how to merge threads or anything like that - but another thread is already open. https://allnurses.com/tennessee-state-nursing/vanderbilt-nurse-residency-820715.html

Thanks! I had searched for one before I started this one but didn't find it. I was shocked that no one had started one. Thanks for letting me know! :-)

Specializes in Psychiatric, mental health.

I submitted my application yesterday. I'm doing the psychiatric track should I get chosen. I'm hoping since its not something everyone wants to do I will have some good odds.

I'm from and went to school in Rhode Island but I'm excited to move to TN!

Hey CrazyGoonLPn, good luck on getting into that program. I am thinking about going like your route LPN-BSN at MTSU. How do they consider you to get into that program? What were your credentials if you dont mind I am asking ( you can email me if you prefered). They ve been wiping out LPNs from hospital setting now. Did you work while doing that program?

Thanks in advance.

Specializes in NICU.

This might really be a stupid question but when you completed the first step before the packet did you include a cover letter? and did you fill out the objective piece within the application? Any advice would be appreciated!

Has anyone heard whether they got in or not? If so, what track did you get?

hi everyone! i'll be applying in a few days for the winter 2015 burn track. i just graduated from NYU with a 3.76 GPA and I'm taking my licensure exam in a few weeks. i was a nurse extern at the hospital for special surgery and still work there as a PCA. i've volunteered at memorial sloan kettering cancer center, am a member of NSNA and was on the board of American Cancer Society UPitt, and got my Girl Scout Gold and Silver Award. what do you think?

Kmdillon- I'm jealous, your experience sounds great! I did Accelerated-BSN so I lived and breathed nursing school for 14 months, no volunteering or any of that stuff that looks so good. There is a 2015 thread here if you want to join us: https://allnurses.com/online-nursing-schools/vanderbilt-nurse-residency-933559.html
