  1. Yeah, in our ED the computer puts a bell by any patient if you don't have vitals for them at least every 2 hours. I just hook them up, set the monitor to go every 30 minutes and then i am able to pull them up from the computer and validate them as often as I would like. (Our vitals machine readouts can be pulled up on the computer). I only do q15 minutes with esi 1 patients and they are 1-to-1 anyway.
  2. I'm a new grad as well, 3 days in and let me tell you I am right there with you! Today I even forgot to grab a 2by2 and when i took my pt's iv out i had nothing to put pressure on it, so I improvised and used my other glove! Lol so as long as you can just learn from it, I think we will make it. I still dont know my way around and sometimes I start walking in one direction to turn around and realize I need to go the oppisite way! We can do this, and I can't wait till these nerves settle a bit. Just know you aren't alone :-)
  3. St. Louis is struggling right now because our main hospital system (barnes jewish) is on a hiring freeze. I don't think they will be hiring new grads anytime soon. Ssm futures program app for january 2014 is up and thats a great program! I'd also look at mercy (no new grad residency), st lukes (have a new grad residency) and SLU hospital (versant new grad program) though i'm not sure if they have one for winter or if the next is in the spring. Oh and St Anthonys has a new grad residency as well. So good luck!
  4. Actually Barnes just took away there loan reimbursement plan completely. They will only help with future education not past. Also, missouri baptist is a bjc hospital, so its the same deal. I know ssm and mercy have some loan reimbursement programs, i think around 3-4000 a year for up to 3 years (12000). Not sure about others, if i figure out SLU i'll let you know!
  5. Hi! I have just finished the application. I'm from St Louis, MO but did my nursing school in Atlanta. I really hope to get an interview but I'm a little nervous about lack of volunteer experience in the past 6 months.
  6. I have applied for the emergency tract. I'm nervous as well because it's been almost impossible to find a job since I had an offer and it got rescinded 2 weeks before i was supposed to start (hiring freeze/budget cuts) So my last 6 months have been NCLEX, part time jobs, and looking for a full time nursing position. I hope they consider my past volunteer / work experience rather than just these past 6 months!
