Motlow Applicants 2014

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Good luck to everyone and hope to be meeting you all this summer!

:nurse:

I'm the girl that had shoulder length brown hair and was sitting at the middle table at the very front. I said I played guitar and flute.

I just graduated from the program, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to email me: [email protected]. :) Good luck!!!

I just have question please, they asked us to buy around 11 books that are required for the first semester. I'm really wondering if we going to study all this books in the first semester! Is this books for the whole 4 semesters program? For the first year?

Some of the books you buy first semester will be used the whole time, such as the Med-Surg book. Second semester you are going to have to buy the Pediatric and OB books. Third semester you will need the Psych book. I surely didn't use all the books I bought, but I wanted them just in case. I wouldn't buy the Taber's medical dictionary...NEVER used it.

Thank you so much, one more thing please which book are mostly used in the first semester(if you remember)? and what you recommend for me to start studying with?

Thank you again

Fundamentals is the main book for the first few months, then focus is on Med-Surg, oh and the Clinical Nursing Skills book. I would not start studying anything right now. I would just worry about getting your paperwork, CPR, vaccines, supplies, books, and most of all...ENJOY your summer break!!!

Would anyone here know about what types of scholarships I can still apply for? Being 38 and doing all this for the first time on my own, I had no clue that I could apply for other assistance besides the fafsa pell grant I am already receiving! I really need some additional help and have no idea how to go about doing it. I know at the orientation, she mentioned that a lot of scholarships are already closed, but are there any still available? Sorry to be so clueless!

BTW...I am the "soccer mom" (lol) and will be at Smyrna campus!

There's a scholarship for women over 35. I applied for that one. It's closed now but opens back up in Jan. It's called the Jeanette Rankin Foundation. It's the only one I applied for. Next semester I'll apply for everything lol

Ugh...wish I would've known about it...but I will definitley remember for next time. Thank you!!!

I remember you lol! I'm the mom with 5 kids. Which campus are you going to? I can't remember

I remember you too, I'll be going to the moore county campus. :)

How is everyone doing on all the things we need to submit to the record tracker? Just curious...

I have 8 requirements completed. I still need to do the cpr class, the physical and the tb skin test. waiting approval on the vaccinations (I still need the last hep B) completed the background check today and already paid for drug screen just gotta drive to supply my sample (lol). I hope everyone is getting these wiped out easily and quickly.
