Has anyone passed the TEAS w/out taking a&p first?

You don't need AP1 to pass TEAS. Teas is gen Ed. You can pass it easily.

On edit, if you feel that it is difficult, get one if the teas prep books.

Imo passing the teas would be very difficult without having science background. The science section is composed of a&p, biology, and some chemistry. I took it with having a&p1, chemistry, and general biology under my belt and still made a 72.3 in the science section. Although I made an 80 overall, a 72 in the science section will probably hurt my chances of getting accepted. There is a lot of a&p2 on the exam which I haven't taken yet. It really depends on what scores your school accepts.

I don't think I'd recommend taking the TEAS VI without A&P. The vast majority of the science section was A&P. However, your school does only require a 63, which honestly, if you do all right in the other 3 sections, can allow for a poor science section. That said, I don't think anyone who is applying to nursing school should ever be shooting for the minimum. Our future jobs are to help people and be responsible for their livelihood, so we should be aiming for 100% every single time.

If you really want to forego taking A&P before the TEAS, but you want a good study guide on A&P, look up "Armando Hasudungan" on YouTube. Learn all of his A&P related videos. Just to help you out, look for things about skin (integumentary), lymphatic (immune), circulatory (cardiovascular), respiratory, urinary, digestive, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems. I'm not too sure how helpful he will be without you having had been lectured on the topics, but his videos helped me get through my A&P classes, so hopefully they can help you too!

Honestly 80% of the stuff I saw on the TEAS Review and the actual TEAS test was A&P-related. I mean yeah, you could learn everything the study guide asks of you from A&P manually, but studying everything would just be extremely messy without any structure.

If you really need to, then take the TEAS w/o taking A&P. It will be hard - you are going to actually need to study alot on your own. Learn the function of every body system and the how they inter-relate. This is obviusly easier said than done. I would really recommend taking A&P before the TEAS if you want a good science score. You can maybe get at least a 62 w/o studying A&P...but a good score? not likey at all

I took the TEAS mid way through A&P 1 and was told most of the science content was general biology. It was probably 80+% A&P. One question I recall (don't want to get too specific) asked about names of vessels leaving certain organs. I had NO idea.

This isn't me. I am 30 and have finally found a dream,a goal in life. I have some amazing new found ambition that I've never experienced before. My end goal is going to be a Nurse Anesthetist. I plan on living for my education for the next 7 to 8 years. I just desperately do not want to have to wait until fall 2018 to get the ball officially rolling. I really need to make it into the 2017 program. Yet, if I don't, I will still continue and wait for 2018. I am just so excited.

I am great at test and love studying, have a high IQ, a 4.0 gpa (so far) have taken AP bio a&p in high school, but that was 12 years ago... I've also spent $236 on the ATI study guide.... I expect to pass, but I want to do better than pass. I take my two turns in January at the test, I will update how I did.

It helps to make me less nervous by being reminded this is technically a general education quiz!

To clarify a little better, CRNA was what I had planned to do out of high school. Young and dumb got in my way. A family friend/role model of mine is a CRNA, so I shadowed him many hours in high school and he has been encouraging me to get back in the dream every since I lost sight of it. Everyone is very excited about me going back to school, including me!

I don't want it to seem like I'm that naive student going for quick money!

I haven't taken the TEAS yet (I'm going Friday!), but I think the best way to assess whether or not you know enough A&P is to take one of the practice assessments on the ATI website.

I took A&P earlier this year, and had to review pretty thoroughly already. Your memory may be MUCH better than mine, however.

I would take an assessment and see where you stand. There are some good apps out there (pocket prep and teas mastery) that will allow you to quiz yourself and see where you stand.

Personally, I would NOT attempt the TEAS unless I was fresh on A&P. I was also not a science major whatsoever, which may have something to do with that. I don't really understand why people take the TEAS before A&P (seeing as you need A&P to apply to pretty much any nursing program).

ETA: I'm not trying to scare you. I agree that the TEAS could be "gen ed" for a lot of people, but I have been out of school for quite some time and had never touched a science in high school unless they made me. I'm aware some people will click with the material quickly, especially if it's review for them. I'm just saying it wasn't "gen ed" for me.

just wanted to update! I took my TEAS on the 18th and made an 84 %, which is in the top 7th % of the nation! whoohoo! or you can say 93% of ppl made the same score or less than mine. The test proctor said she had not personally seen a test score so high! I did study, a few hours one day on the eng usage part and then ALL NIGHT the night before the test for the science, yes I did cram.... still only made a 62 on the science part- but like I said, I just now started bio this semester. 100 on the reading, a 90 on the math, and an 89 on the eng part.

I'm stoked! and I don't have to waste the $65 to try a second time!!! wooooo! now, hopefully this gets me in the nursing program!
