To the OP, Hey!! I was in your spot a few years ago. I'm turning 23 in two weeks and will graduate with my BSN (non-RN) this year. I scored a summer internship with a VA hospital and requested for a SICU or MICU. I got my ACLS, PALS, and BLS. Studying hard now for the GRE and NCLEX eeek! I had hopes to be a CRNA when I was in high school after a career day event was hosted way back when and a CV RN,an MD, a PT, and many more (one being a CRNA) came to talk about the health care field as an option to enter after college. Low and behold, I was inspired, and this is where my passion took me.

I say keep up the hard work. If there's one thing I learned through this journey thus far, motivation, devotion, sacrifice, patience, and perseverance are virtues you ought to keep. It'll be a rough sea to sail ahead, but your efforts are worth the cost. I'm still sailing these seas as well and still aspire to be one of those CRNAs lurking these threads as they have shown themselves as shining role models to me and continually give me hope and support.

Work on a good GPA, take science classes, and gain experience through learning and understanding, and I don't just mean in the ICU setting but also experience through life experiences we deal with and share as humans. Afterall, that is apart of nursing.

I will be taking my 3rd pathophysiology course and a graduate level pharm as an undergrad (my 2nd pharm course too) along with physics. It's rough, but nobody said it was easy. I struggled hard to even keep my 3.7, but in the long run, you are what you make of your path. And believe me! I've been chewed up, spat out, eaten up again, and left to rot many times in the nursing world... But I learned to take it all and become a better nurse... err... future nurse one step at a time! aha!

Good luck with everything and wish you the best endeavors! And remember to roll back the good times and to laugh!

Ok so I start nursing school soon, my goal in life is to achieve high and become a CRNA :-)

I first wanted to know should i do a bridge program or just go full out??? I know I need to get my bachelors but is there anyway to skip to masters degree?

At what nursing school program did you get accepted? Congrats!

If not a CRNA, I was also thinking about internal Medicine. My husband is a L2 Paraplegic so I want much around that are. I genuinely have a empathetic soft heart for people even the mean ones. Being spiritually humble has helped with that... But anyway...

WHO KNOWS I may be content with acutely ill patients.

It's not nursing school until you finish pre-reqs, apply to nursing school, get accepted and begin fundamentals of nursing. 4 years ago when I was taking pre-reqs, when asked what I was going to school for I would state "liberal arts, hoping to get into nursing school".

Focus on getting all A's in your pre-reqs so that you do get accepted into nursing school. Take higher level science courses so that you're competitive for your future goals. It's a long road.

Specializes in burn ICU, SICU, ER, Trauma Rapid Response.

Yes but only if the graduate work in CRNA school. One can go from ADN to MSN without first earning any bachelors degree. So if her goal was NP she could consider an RN to MSN program.

It's the entry level BSN nursing program (traditional). There's also the RN to BSN for those with ADNs or diplomas.

He's very supportive and that's why I live him. He watches our son while I go to school. I have what a lot a people pray for.

Ok I guess I never heard it worded that way....all I could think of if you have BSN why would you not be a RN when you finished.....sometimes I'm so blonde I scare myself....LOL

I'm pretty sure you're actually right. ADN/ASN and BSN are degrees, RN is a title. Pretty sure people with BSNs are still RN's (Registered Nurses). So you're actually not being blonde at this moment :) Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...
