I am considering UOC for their NP program. Has anyone attended there. Have you/were you happy with their program. I would be attending online.

Any other NP schools that you think are good online programs?

If I'm understanding things correctly one must have their NP degree before the end of 2014 or will then require a PhD degree for NP?

Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know..I am keeping that in mind...I too have had

a few negative experiences with other programs

I would tell people to reconsider USA -I applied to them also. Totally disorganized. Never got back to me about my admission status. I finally got a hold of someone and they said I missing something in my application but never got back to me. They said I SHOULD have received a letter about missing info -never did. Luckily they were not my 1st or 2nd choice. I have had good experiences with U of C so far.

DialysisBSN, I used a few docs from the hospital where I work, but most of my contacts were through cold calls. I must have called every practice in the Cincinnati area. luckily there were some people that were fantastic to work with, and I used some contacts through the Docs that round on pts at the hospital. Most of the docs have been great, and love that you have ambition. A lot of them have offered me jobs once I pass boards........ Best of luck!

I have to admit, I applied to a total of 13 schools that where "distance oriented" and I received a mixed response. I was accepted by Vanderbilt (Distance, ranked #9) and they have a low acceptance rate, but I have to find my own clinical and that is VERY HARD! I was denied admission to The University of Southern Maine (onsite, ranked #44) and all of the rent in between.

If there is one thing that I have learned about the distance programs is that even though you are admitted, finding you own clinical preceptor can be very difficult if you dont already know someone. As just-in-case-schools I applied to several local schools that are well established, have clinical placements wired throughout the program already... When I took a step back, I realized, just like most of us did in our undergrad, im an RN and I went to FSC, a state school. I make no more or no less than any other grad... so think twice about grad school! Because even though I want to go to Vanderbilt U, if I dont have my clinicals all lined up, then im off to a local school (if I get in.)

Thank YOu

I have had a similar experience

and right now my job is most likely paying more per hour

than I would receive as a new NP:twocents:

however it is a goal of mine, it does give independence

and autonomy-there is a local chapter here of nurse

practitioners and now there is an online preceptor site

I agree it is difficult finding the right preceptor...

having an NP council in your community would be very helpful.....

"now there is an online preceptor site"

Could you please tell me the name or address of this site?
