Is there such programs?

Hello everyone-

I am wondering if there is such FNP programs for RNs (Associate Degrees) with a degree closely related to nursing (Public Health/Community Health) that is two years.

I know there is bridge programs where the student has to take anywhere 5-10 classes (BSN Level) before taking the actual MSN/FNP Classes, but what about programs where you can go straight into the MSN/FNP Program?

For example, I know that UCLA has such program, but are there anything other such programs that you are aware of?

Hello! Just to clarify, UCLA does not have such a program. You need a BSN to apply for the MSN with an advanced practice focus.

The MECN or Master's entry level program, are for those who have a bachelor's degree in a different field AND who are not RNs. After the MECN program, you will have your MSN, RN license, and CNL certification, but not an APRN certification.

You need to have be an RN and have a bachelor's degree (though not necessarily a BSN) to apply to any NP program that I am aware of. Some programs also require a BSN.

A number of schools offer an RN to MSN program, some that can be completed online. Most, if not all of these will award a bachelor’s degree at some point. There are some graduate programs that will accept an RN with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree, some of which might be completed in two years. However, I doubt you will find a program such as the one you describe.

I'm not totally sure what your asking.

Do you need to get your RN at some point in your education? Yes. Absolutely. There are programs that provide both your RN education and your NP education in one fell swoop. If you do not have an RN, then you could consider these, but they are very competitive and there are only a few, so you would have to be flexible in location.

You have an RN but not a BSN and want a program that will take you all the way to becoming an NP. In that case the program type you are looking for is often referred to as a bridge program. It bridges you from your Associates degree RN all the way to your NP degree (masters or doctorate). Some award the BSN along the way, others do not.
