South University FNP MSN program???

Nursing Students NP Students

So did anyone or is anyone currently in the FNP or Adult NP online program at this time? I spoke to an admissions rep and was really impressed. The set up is nice with one course at a time, although was told you can talk to your advisor and sometimes layer your courses here and there as well (like an 11wk course with one 5.5 wk course) which I'd prefer to do to get done faster...since I did my ASN at Excelsior and am finishing my BSN I'm well used to online format courses and have my time down to a science. I was planning on beginning my application process now, so that in December we submit everything with the potential to start the first week of Feb 2014...anyone else??? Any thoughts???

What pharm text did you have?

Good luck you guys; I start in December (allicat130 at g mail dot com)

No need to be nervous! Your admission rep will be there to walk you through everything! They are very helpful.

So if there are any nurses getting started in the December class - let's connect!

I am starting MSN-FNP @ South University in February 6th, 2014.

congrats, I will start in February 2014, I already got accepted.

Can anyone enrolled in South University's MSN FNP program help me here?

I was accepted for the December 2013 Cohort. My financial advisor very clearly and in writing stated the program was 13952.00 per year and I could pay the tuition over a 12 month period (no interest).

Then, she sends me the document and it now includes a 3100.00 "additional fee". Now the new the tuition is 17052. And she amortized it over 8 months, not 12 months as she stated.

To make matters worse, I download from my campus portal a print out of my financial obligation and the new amount due 14849.00

Then the schedule of monthly payments are spread over an 8 month period without including 4 months in between; for a new total charge of 15349.00

I totally smell a rat. What is the number? 13952.00 or 17052.00 or 14894.00 or 15349.00

Clearly the 3100.00 "additional fee" is the recruiting fee. (I'm in the business, so I should know)

Thoughts? My wise compadres

What pharm text did you have?

I can't remember...but I recomend that you purchase the Kindle version. It makes doing your research homework so much easier

Recruiting fee? That sounds like shady business to me.

My figures have been above board the entire time. I would not have gotten this far if there was "monkey business" going on. Freedomrn1 needs to contact her admission and academic advisers. My financial adviser has changed four times in 10 months...it is possible that there is a new one who doesn't know what they are talking about.

Hi. I got my BSN at South online. I loved it. I was all about to complete my admission process for the FNP but changed my mind. My heart really isn't in becoming a FNP or an ANP. I work in psych and want to be a psych NP. Currently South isn't offering this and all the schools that do are either more expensive and require travel. So I am starting the MSN with a specialization in Nurse Education at South online on 8/29. I had even lined up my future practicum site preceptors for the FNP! This is something you must do, but I did not find this difficult. Yes, the classes are 5 1/2 weeks for the core courses. The practicums are 11 wks with 180 hours required. That means 16-20 hrs/wk. That would be comparable to a parttime job. I must work fulltime, how about you? I still was going for it, but you must realize this is intense. If you really want this then go for it! Good luck to you!

FIU started a psych NP program last year.

Lisa, while doing the practicums, you also have class. I am planning to spend as much time as I can at clinicals...that is what I will be doing when I graduate. I won't be working at that time...starting now actually.
