Johns Hopkins MSN Fall 2016

Hi~

Anyone else out there applying to JHU's MSN program for Fall 2016? Haven't seen any threads on it yet..

Thought we could go through the process together :)

I am applying! I submitted my application Dec. 31, but have yet to hear back.

Yay! Finally someone! :)

I haven't heard back anything yet. Looks like they take a couple weeks to process all the materials. Which program did you apply for? I applied for the AGNP :)

Hello, I've applied to the direct-entry MSN program for non-nurses. Is there is any information for when we hear back?

I also applied for Direct Entry MSN! Apparently we will hear back in February or March. It seems like a loooong wait!

That does seem like a long time... :S

Is there an interview or do we hear directly if we're accepted or not? Also, are there any returned Peace Corps volunteers applying?

According to threads from previous years, it seems some people had to interview? Not really sure.. but those that did interview got notification end of Jan. So I guess we've still got a couple more weeks of waiting!

Could someone clarify the MSN program for me? On the JHU website under the FAQ section, there is a question that says "What are the differences between the two pre-licensure options? The answer says that the MSN program is 5 continual semesters and the degree upon completion is a Master of Science in Nursing, Generalist.

I'm confused because it also says that once completing the MSN program, we are eligible to sit for the NCLEX and can work as an RN or continue our studies in advanced practice.

Is the end result of the MSN program a RN degree or a master's degree?

It is a bit confusing! It's an MSN degree that leads you to become an RN. So, whether you do an accelerated BSN or direct entry MSN the end result is still = RN.

The main reason why people choose this option is if they want to go on to get their DNP for advanced practice or education. The reason they sunseted the ABSN is that there is a call for more educated nurses. Soon, you'll need a DNP to become an NP, for example.

Hope this helps!

Karabella89, I didn't apply to the direct entry program but just wanted to clarify, an RN is not an actual degree. It's based on your licensure once you obtain a degree. From what I can tell from the website, it seems that you get a masters degree (MSN, generalist) and you can sit for the NCLEX exam to become an RN. So it looks like the end result of the direct entry MSN program is both :) hope this helps you out~ but I'd say call or email the school to double check :)

I also applied AG-ACNP. Any idea when we will hear something?
