I start on 5/19 and it's an 8 week course. I'm freaking out after hearing horror stories. I'm in EKU's online NP program.

Our first week covers 14 chapters!! Instructor sent out an email stating we should expect to spend 12 hrs a week in this class. This sounds a lot more than 12 hours a week to me. We have a case study and a quiz every Friday. And a comprehensive final the last week.

Any tips would be great.

The Mosby patho cards....those are different from our class book authors right? I know I saw a workbook on amazon that went with the text but I'm pretty sure that we won't have time to work in a workbook with the amount of assignments we already have.

Mosby is different but visual aids for the basic concepts. I have understanding pathology workbook which I have had for a long time. Some I the chapters of our book were just cut an pasted into our book

Hey all, starting Patho this fall so I know this class will be a lot of work as we all are realizing. I would just say this:

Focus on what you are asked to focus on to help you get through the class...BUT read the chapters as much as you have time for. You are not going to school to pass a test. You are going to be given the responsibility to diagnose and treat clients so your clients will expect you to know your stuff! Good luck everyone :)

Access the online material for the book. I don't remember what book we used but it have me a lot of good info and the practice questions were very similar to what were on our tests so it helped me focus on the important content from the chapters

I finished patho last semester and i got an A. I would say, you have tons of reading, tons of studying, and tons of case studies and postings on Bb. It's doable but it kills you. online coursework is lot more condensed and lot of paperwork, so it leaves you with little time to study. My advice to you is to read, summarize and at the end just review your summaries.

Good luck dear.

Im taking Patho fall 2014. im anxious, thanks for your input. will jump start nowwwww

You sent me a private msg saying we were in the same cohort, and I don't have enough posts to qualify on this site to respond privately (a rule I find offensive).

By now we have both survived that class--438 pages the first week! Of tiny print and dense diagrams! I hope most people do study more than the bare minimum needed to pass--their future patients hope so, too.

I was scary and hard....don't know which classmate you are, but bet you're hanging in...hope to talk to you, too.
