Embassy Work as RN

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi All,

I am a nurse with a BSN and 2 years experience working on a General Medicine floor at Duke University Hospital. I am interested in working overseas for the US such as at an embassy. I am hoping to gain information about how to proceed with my educational track, I am looking into MPH programs with a focus in global health. I assume I will need to speak another language and continue to gain experience potentially in triage or emergency medicine. If there is anyone who can given me ANY information it would be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

I worked as a RN at a USA Embassy, but I was a spouse of the State Dept worker. Some embassies have EFM positions (Elgible family members), thus how I applied and got the job. Some do have local hires, but it is exactly that, hiring a local nurse. I dont think the State Dept (or Foreign Service) has RN positions...I think the starting positions they have are NPs. I could be wrong though..best of luck

Thanks for the information!
