Hey colleagues,

Does anyone know if the national park service hires seasonal nurses for the summer? I've been looking on job boards, and I'm finding agency-type stuff, but I'm curious what other options their might be.

Looking for some :uhoh3: and adventure this summer!

Specializes in School Nursing.

I've never heard of the national parks hiring nurses but I would LOVE a job like that!!!

Specializes in school nursing, ortho, trauma.

Love that idea!!

Yes they do. It is thru an outside agency, can't think of the name off the top of my head tho at the moment, I looked into it for Yellowstone NP at one point but didn't feel I was qualified enough to apply, they want heavy ER, ICU experience since you are the first help for any medical issue and you are a long ways from a major trauma center - but man what a exciting summer job that would be - I would do it just to be able to hike and explore on my free time all summer.

My parents were seasonal workers at Yellowstone one summer (they are full time Rv'ers), they worked at one of the general stores. Hard work, long hours, split shifts for minimum wages - they only did it so they could park their RV and explore the area for very low cost - I think they paid $15/week that included water, electric and sewer hookups, they were in a more private area for employee RV's only.

I dont' know about National Parks, but I am very likely doing Camp nursing this summer. It sounds like fun and all 3 of my kids get to attend (which is payment enough for me, but they're paying me also :cat:)
