Abstinence Programs

Specialties School

Y'all. I can't express how happy I am that its Friday!! WHEW! This week has been LONG and ssssllllllooooowwwww....

Anywho, do y'all use an abstinence program in your school? My school has apparently used the Draw the Line/Respect the Line program in the past and unfortunately the nurse I replaced left ABSOLUTELY NO information on it. In fact. No one seems to have any information on it. :sniff: I've now been asked to hunt down the contact person for this program to inquire about training new teachers and literally, I've hit a brick wall. The people I've spoken to have told me its $2500 per person (this doesn't include travel or hotel accommodations. Just the training ) and that the training is only held a couple of times a year. However, the admin person that has been "helping" me with this task feels like that's not something our district would pay for (we're small and funding is limited) but we honestly have no clue if this is what was used or not!

SO! If your school uses the Draw the Line/Respect the Line abstinence program and you have contact information for this program, would you be so kind as to share it with me???I would be forever grateful!!

I love the term "draw the line/respect the line"!! Outside of an abstinence program, it is a great way to talk about consent!

I am currently involved in my own personal (involuntary) abstinence program. (should this go in the "things that make me grumpy" thread...?)

Sorry, I can't comment on that particular program, but looking at it, the structure is very familiar to the sex education curriculum I used to teach 7th and 8th grade. (I've used Planned Parenthood's Get Real: Sex Education that works and I love it.)

Have you looked at the ETR page? Draw the Line - Program Success Center

They have a list of places that have been using it and I wonder if any of them has any further insight?

Yes that's the place we were talking to but we weren't sure if the info they were giving us applied to our school. I'll double check the link you posted though. Thanks!

Sounds like they teach you to prefer abstinence after they screw you.
