Hang in there!

As they say, your worst day as a school nurse is still better than a good day as a floor nurse... ;) I agree with this statement, especially since I left floor nursing to become a school nurse. LOL

I had similar issues. It seems like the parents at my school are going nuts. After yet another ugly run in with a parent, I went into the main office (which is right off my office) and the office staff and I just looked at each other shaking our heads. What in hades is going on with the parents here?!?!

mama said there will be days like these, my mama' said....

12 more days here.

I just came in from the playground with my 6th grade diabetic student bleeding from his nose after being accidentally elbowed by another student during a soccer match. One of the yard duty ladies said "You got a bloody nose?". I said "Here's your sign".

Guess what? She hadn't heard of Bill Engvall and his "Here's Your Sign" schtick. Didn't go over very well.

Had a preschool student come in with a bloody knee and he screamed bloody murder when I tried to simply look at it. No amount of coaxing from me or the teacher would convince him to let us help him. The teacher was shocked that I said "well, call the parent". I can't hold down a student and force him. Sheesh.

Yesterday I got a call from the teacher at our special ed campus who had a student who skinned his elbow and wouldn't let anyone touch him. He wanted to know what to do. Ummmm . . I'm over 20 miles away. Call the parent.

Had a parent call in this morning whose student will be in the Transitional Kindergarten next year. (That means he will also go to Kindergarten after TK). We sent out notices that we send to all Kindergarten students parents stating they will need a physical by 1st grade. This mom called in saying "My child won't be going into first grade next year". The prinicipal wants us to not send these notices out to the Transitional parents because they think we are saying their students are going into first grade next year. I re-read the letter - it is crystal clear. I even had a very savvy mom ask me yesterday why she was getting calls about her daughter's first grade physical. She said "my daughter had her physical". I said "Did you send the paperwork in?". She said "What paperwork?". Ummmm, the form we gave you to take to the doc that he filled out in order for you to return it to the school . .. .sigh.

People are crazy.

Oh my gosh! Me too! I think I have seen more pee, vomit, and blood this week than I had seen all year. And for the record, isn't soccer supposed to be a non-contact sport?! These kids are playing it more like rugby...

Geesh!

19 days left here. Lots to do before the end of the year but I am ready for it.

Half day on Tuesday, then done for the summer!
