Resigning from 1:1 care :-(

Hello everyone. I'm a bit bummed and just looking to hear from others' experiences in resigning from a job where they grew close to a patient.

I have found that recent working conditions and the moral environment to have an effect on my own health and well being. Not only that, but I fear my license being in jeopardy the way things are going. Being put in awkward positions, being asked to do things that are not ethical in my opinion. It's become very uncomfortable. So, I made the decision to resign. However, I've done 1:1 care for just this one patient for over a year now. I've got a special place in my heart for this little one.

Tell me how have you coped with resigning from a job like this? Please tell me it's normal to feel some kind of sadness about leaving...

Share any of your experiences on resigning and how you coped with it. Thanks so much!!!!

When I leave a case, for any reason, I do not allow myself to dwell on the situation. The new situation, whether it be a new patient at a new case, or being unemployed, is enough to take up my attention. You have to set boundaries within yourself as well as with your environment, otherwise you will burn yourself out emotionally over and over again.

Thank you for the advice, I agree. Boundaries are extremely important. I am learning that now.:facepalm:

Maybe you simply need to move to a different case.
