I don't think so, as long as you didn't abandon the patient, and there was adequate staff to change assignments with. Unless there is more of a back story to this that would affect things.

why haven't they found another nurse to cover this patient? is it patient that no one wants to cover? maybe thats why they are having trouble. i know alot of nurses who refuse to take care of a pt , and if they don't want that pt, they don't have to have the patient.

then why don't they just assign someone else to the pt.. just switch you with someone else... did you ask what the hold up was? they hired 5 new people and havem't assigned anyone to this pt.?? that makes no sense... ask them why they keep putting you with this person??

They are taking advantage of you because they can. You need to put your foot down and tell them you flat out won't handle this patient again and why. You gave them a month and that's MORE than sufficient.

i agree with batman , they are taking advantage of you .. go in there and let them have it !!

I think it really depends on the situation and the reason why you do not want to work with a patient. But since you can't be more specific, there isnt much else to say
