Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a pre nursing student at Humboldt st. university. I am wondering about the difficulty of admission into RN and BSN programs around Cali. How many seats r available in the programs and what kind of GPA i will need to achieve to have a fair chance of being accepted when i apply.

Thank u

Some people on here can help you by telling you about his/her experience. However, you are really going to have to do your own research to narrow down your options. Here is a link to get started:

Good luck.

You'll definitely have your work cut out for you to find a program in California - anywhere in California, that is not compacted. That is the reason I am going to University of Missouri for my BSN. I couldn't stand the waiting at the California colleges anymore!

You best bet would be to go to a private university, such as Mount St. Mary's College in L.A. You will spend a small fortune, but that's the beauty of private schools - they price most would-be nursing students out of attending their schools, thus making their wait lists either very short or non-existent.

If you can't do private universities, then just stick out the waiting or move out-of-state to finish your degree. Those will be your best options. As a plus, the wait lists can sometimes be a little shorter than the school tells you, as people will drop out, fail pre-entrance exams/math tests, choose to attend other schools, etc.

I am in CA and my school doesn't have a waiting list, I got in on my first try. PM me if you want more info.

Hello there!

I am in Arcata also- at the moment I'm at College of the Redwoods taking pre-reqs. Have you checked out CR's ADN program? It is a crap-shoot to get into because of the lottery, but at least you have just as good of a chance as anyone else, as long as you have all the pre-reqs. Also, there is Mendocino College in Ukiah which supposedly has no wait list and accepts people based on grades (not a lottery system). I am personally applying mostly out of Cali, hoping to get into an accelerated BSN program as I already have a BS in biology. Humboldt is a good program- are you planning to stay on there if you get in? Good luck!
