Why go into nursing? is it for the money or for other reasons

I discovered nursing as a perfession that I would want to do, because a few years ago when my mom was in the hospital and the nurses were very nasty to the paitents who were uneducated and had no family and at that point I knew that I wanted to impact people lives in a positive way. What is your reason?

I'm looking to go into L&D nursing because I've had a good experience and a bad experience when it comes to childbirth. But the positive experience was the most inspiring point for me. I've always wanted to be a nurse. The money is a plus, but it's not the reason I want to be a nurse. I love the process of labor and delivery. I have two children and I don't plan on having anymore, but I still want to be able to experience the miracle of life and play a part in that department. I really hope when I get to that point it really is my dream job, because I imagine it as my dream job.

My daughter was born 10 weeks early and spent 1 month and 5 days in the NICU. Those nurses were the best people in the world. They kept my daughter alive and just were the most respectful nurses in the world. That is what drives my passion to be a nurse. I have four children and L&D nurses are great. This is where I hope to be when I graduate. And also the money is good. I have four children whose futures I have to think about here.

If I wanted to make money, the last thing I would go into is nursing.

Find another two year profession with the potential for 60+ a year starting plz.

Deff money, time off, rewarding and respectable career.

I was alwayas interested in medicine. I disliked the unskilled corporate desk jobs i held after graduating from college with a liberal arts BA. I wanted fulfilling career where i'd learn & perform tangible skills, in medicine somehow and help people. Money wasn't really a factor.

Money is definitely a factor for why I want to go into nursing, but it's also something that I've been dreaming of becoming since I was a little girl. I think it all began when my dad was diagnosed w/ ALS when I was small. I watched a lot of nurses taking care of him, whether he was in the hospital or at home. They were always caring and passionate. They were sensitive to my family's needs as well. Up until the time of his death, every nurse seemed extremely dedicated to his/her job. I used to love going to the hospital to see the nurses. They always seemed to brighten up my day even tho my dad had a bunch of tubes and IV bags stuck to him. Also, my mother was almost to nursing school, but ended up getting married (arranged marriage) & never finished. When my dad passed away, I watched her struggle w/ my brother and me for a long time. It just kinda made me want to become a nurse even more. I don't want to struggle anymore than I have to and I feel that getting a good education is key.
