What school should I choose?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey all,

So I'm debating between two community colleges. Both of the colleges require about the same pre-reqs. However, one of the schools has you take TEAS and the other one doesn't. The school that requires TEAS seems more willing and able to help you through the program, giving you more than one chance to redo a class, and the other kind of seems like a weed out program (because they can accept anyone). The college that makes you take the TEAS changes grading scales from first year to second year; first year you need a 78, and second you need an 80, while the other program is a 77, I *believe*. Does this seem doable and the norm?

THANKS!

Can you apply to both and see where you get into? Never put all your eggs in one basket.

Also, that TEAs score is manageable. I had not taken A & P 2 when I took the test and I hardly studied. I scored an 82.

Shouldn't you go to to the community college whose district you live in?

I would apply to both. I'm currently applying to a community college & have to take the TEAS test. The wider you cast your net the better luck you will have. Good luck! :)

Why? I've applied to community colleges 1 to 2 hours or more away from me. If I had to move I would've done so. Nothing would've stopped me from my dream.

Well, I live in the middle of 2 cities that are about the same distance from one another. And good to know; they require an 80 for admission, otherwise you have to take some "nursing strategies" class...

Also, I'm not sure if nursing school is very competitive around here or not... I do not know what to expect! I had a class who said her grades weren't very good, and got in to one. And another friend said she took TEAS and got in right away... HM!

Must just be my area, around here you can only go to nursing school for the community college whose district you live in. So I guess that makes the choice very simple here!

Lol. Yep. I've never heard that. I applied any & everywhere I thought I could. As for the OP, apply to both & good luck!
