The Wait List

The wait list....is it a blessing after all it isn't a flat out rejection.

But waiting for that maybe to become a yes is trying.

Wondering if there are others in the limbo land of the wait list willing to share how you are coping with the wait like - trying not to check every phone in the house to make sure the line is clear and you didn't miss the call

I'd also love to hear from folks who made it in to their school of choice after being on the wait list.

I'm staying positive and doing my best to not let the wait bring me down.

It is hard knowing you are on the wait list. For me, I had a back up plan and applied to two schools and considering the LVN program for 1 yr and then bridge to RN. Just don't give up!!!! Keep trying and you should be in soon. :nurse:

I've been on three waitlists since December 08. The ONLY good thing about a waitlist is that you know you will get in, and that certainly beats the lottery, where it's all about the luck of the draw and there are no guarantees of ever getting selected.

It is difficult though, because as you said, you're living in limbo. You've been accepted by the progam and put on the waitlist, yet you have no start date, so it doesn't feel real. You're in but not really IN....yet.

Hang in there. The best thing we waitlisted folks can do is to apply apply apply, and then prepare our minds and bodies for the program.

Hi

I am on the wait list for Widener and it sucks! I am trying my best not to think about it but of course I am. I have applied to LaSalle as well, but that too is in the air, resting on my NLN pre nursing score. I am so upset right now. My GPA is pretty high 3.7. I am not giving up! I am ripping my hair out as we speak reading this NLN pre nursing guide. My plate is so full, a mother of two babies, working full time, and school full time. My husband was just laid off as well. But like I said I will stay focus and you do the same. Our dream is a step away from becoming reality:p

lol im waitlisted ! thats just how it is at my school...doesnt matter ur TEAS score or GPA....the wait is about a yr -_-

Though the school I'm hoping to get in to does have a wait list it is not a guarantee as some schools have. Once the program begins the wait list is gone and you have to apply the following year. In that instance the only benefit of a wait list spot if you don't get in is that you can take more classes and increase your chances for the following year and have a better chance of getting in...but then again so do those that were rejected.

Deposits were due last week by those who were accepted...I guess I was just hoping that would open some spots and I'd get a call this week.

Maybe I'll discover an early Easter present on Friday or a late one come Monday letting me know I have a spot.

Staying positive but ready for anything...I'll continue to take classes and apply again for the following year if I have to...just would be nice to have an answer now.

oops I did'nt know about waiting list. I will start my prereq in summer 2010. I'm changing my major A.S Computer programmer(only 6 courses left) to ADN. If there is waiting list then I will be upset. For how long waiting list remains....I don't know Iam confused now. Shoud I stick to my other major or ADN. There is lot of competition also etc etc...can I handle all this? Iam housewife with 2 kids 5 and 2.

Anyone from Orange county CA. Is any college who has ADN programe other than cypress, cerritos, santa ana, la and longbeach?

I'm currently on the Summer 2010 waitlist for the ABSN @ Stony Brook in NY. As I did not expect to be "waiting" so long, I had to make some decisions and decided to keep working for another year and finish up my prereqs. I will end up reapplying next year to that school and some others, confident in having an even stronger application. No regrets!

Needless to say, I am not stressing one bit ... :D

Paco,

Your positive attitude is contagious. My current waitlist status is not a no and in fact it's a good indication that I'll either get in for this fall or the following. If my current application was worthy of waitlist status then with a couple more pre-req's out of the way (taking A&P II currently and will take Micro over the summer) my application will be even stronger for the following fall.

Knowing now wouldn't have any effect on what I'm currently doing (focusing on A&P II) or will be doing (taking Micro over the summer). I'll go on as if it's a no for this coming Fall and if I get the call I get the call if not then there's always next fall.

Now to get that part of me that wants an answer NOW to catch up to the logical part of my brain :o

I know what you mean. When I was waiting for ANY decision it was frustrating. When I finally heard that I got waitlisted I kinda calmed down a bit knowing that "Hey, they did not say NO!" ... but then as time goes on my life continues and I figured hey, there's always next year, I'll work another year, save more $$, finish my prereqs up and have one more year of volunteering under my belt. Plus, the job market might be better graduating in 2012 than in 2011. Nurses are always going to be in demand in some way shape or form. I can't understand sometimes the ones that are like "if I don't get in this year I am going to kill myself" attitude and they are still in their 20's. I'm 40 and I know when it's meant to be it will work out! :) Life's too short to be stressing over things you just cannot control.

I'm on a waitlist right now, it is very stressful. >.
