Is taking A&P I and Org./Bio. Chem. together doable?

Hi all! :)

I was going to be taking an Anatomy-only class and a Organic/Bio. Chem. class together this fall at an easier school, but things didn't work out so.... now I'm set back a bit and I'll be taking Anatomy and Physiology I and Organic/Bio. Chem. together this winter quarter.

My question is: Do you all think this (taking such tough classes together) is doable given that getting As in both is a must (of course lol)? I'm really worried because the community college I'm at prides itself on being one of the most rigorous colleges in the state and I've already barely gotten an A in a Chem. 101 class here.

I am a VERY dedicated student, but....A&P + Chem. 102 really scares me. :scrying::eek: Has anyone ever paired these classes together? Can it be done?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! :D:heartbeat

Almost every semester I had 3 to 4 science courses. It's very doable. Just stay on top of things. Don't fall behind. If there is something you don't understand, get help right away. Use your time wisely and multitask whenever possible. i.e. if you have an experiment that has to sit in ice for an hour, pull out your homework and work on that while you wait. If you fall behind you're screwed to put it bluntly. If you stay on top of things then you shouldn't have a problem getting As.

It depends. Are you also working full-time? I work full time (40+ hours a week) and volunteer 8+ hours as well, and I learned the hard way. I have two W's on my transcript because I tried to take two science classes together while working full-time.

If you're not working full-time and do well with math and science classes, then I say go for it! Good luck with your classes! :wink2:

If you are willing to pretty much give up your social life for that semester, you should be able to do it. It will most likely be a stressful experience (I hated having a Chem and A&P exam the same day several times during the semester!), so plan some stress-relieving techniques NOW.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your advice! :)

I don't work so I'm hoping I will have enough time to study. I'm still so scared but these are some of my last pre-req classes and I don't want to spend the rest of my life on pre-reqs so.... I think I'm going to take the risk and take 2 hard classes together from now on. I sure hope I'm not making a mistake though....

I'll definitely make studying my only priority - that and praying :bowingpur lol!

I'm taking Micro, A&P & Molecular Cell, so I'm totally hear you. Your schedule is very doable -- I agree, you have to stay on top. I will tell you that I am tired a lot of the time...

You can absolutely do it!

I didn't have chem and A&P during the same semester but I did take Microbiology and A&P(I) along with two other health care related courses in addition to a full time job. If I can do it, you can too!

The previous posters are absolutely correct. Stay on top of your studies... get help when needed and definitely keep the positive attitude.

I sat down with a large 3-month calendar and wrote down EVERYTHING that needed to be done for my classes and even scheduled my study time. (Now its much easier to track with my Palm & the reminders I set for each item)

I felt very overwhelmed at the start of the semester, but just completed everything one by one.:typing

Good Luck!

Wow, thank you everyone for the kind encouragement!:loveya:

I'm glad to know that there are others out there who have taken these kinds of classes together and been successful. I'm really going to work on keeping a tight schedule and a daily/monthly calendar. I figure its like walking on a ledge. You just have to keep focusing on putting one foot in front of the other and not looking over the side or you'll get spooked! Thats hard for me, because I have a bad tendency to think about everything that I have to get done and start freaking out lol.

Like you said, determined2succeed, "just complete everything one by one". So thanks everyone for all the encouragement and advice .... I just hope I can be a good student like you all are.
