Soooo Tired Of Studying?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have one test and one practical left before the end of the semester in A&P I.

I'm sooooo tired of studying and reaching burn out. All I have is special senses and endocrine for the test. The practical however covers 6 labs.

Anyone else having trouble getting motivated/ burnt out.

Any suggestions on how to make myself get some energy and kick it in this final week?

Yeah it gets worse in the nursing program.

But your hard work now will help build a solid foundation for that point. While I think it's more than possible to take Micro and A&P at the same time (and it would be good experience for getting ready for the nursing program...), I think you should take it as easy as possible while you can.

So far, in the third semester...this is probably the worst it's been. We had 11 chapters in one week on top of two clinical rotations and two four hour lectures. One of the worst days was a test, then three hours of lecture, and then four hours for a mini-clinical rotation at an outpatient clinic.

However...it's doable. We have some people who even have full time jobs and some of the younger ones even manage a social life. I'm the primary caregiver of my children so needless to say I have no social life or anything...but you can certainly juggle other things with the program if you prioritize properly...so it's not all consuming.

With that having been said, I write family and friends at the beginning of every semester telling them that I won't be seeing them for a few months and to not call the police on my wife b/c they fear I've died or something.

My nerve spot is in the center of my head and I am literaly bald in that area. I have an image to maintain, but does it have to be this rough?

Christmas break is coming.

Just hang tough. You'll make it.

When I start to lag with my studies, I close my eyes and picture myself at the end of the semester, logging on to check final grades, and seeing a grade other than what I wanted. It's there on the transcript. Final. Forever.

That absolutely terrifies me, and I get to work. Hang in there, and keep at it!

Yeah, nursing school is hard too but you can do it! It really is no big deal, but it seems much harder when you are in it. I am so glad i only have 2 quarters left of nursing school. It will be over before you know it. just don't think too hard!

My advice to everyone in this thread:

Starting at 9 tonight, studying for the day ends.

Change your sheets.

Run long, hot bubble bath. Pour a glass of wine or make a cup of tea. Soak and shave and do tonails and push back cuticles and wash off the facial mask you applied.

You WILL be sleepy. Put on a clean nightie (or not) and crawl into bed.

GO TO SLEEP.

I remember at the end of a semester being in the car and thinking, "If I close my eyes I can go to sleep." NOT a good move on the interstate.

The studying will be there in the morning, and the good night's sleep will refresh not only your body but your sould.

Hang in there. The end of the term is almost here and you're all doing well.

Ahhh...how fun nursing school is...I'm just finishing up my first semester at U Pitt and next week I have a final everyday. Monday=Chemistry for the Health Professions; Tuesday=Sociology; Wednesday= AnP Lab Final; Thursday= AnP class final; Friday= Foreign Cultures final....

I've been studying for 2 weeks nonstop, probably 4-6 hours a day. My brain literally feels hot at the end of the night!! All I can say is xmas break will be AWESOMMEEEEEEE

And I agree...every night at 9 is my study cut off time...no, i dont get a bubble bath and get in a nighty (seeing i'm a guy:lol2:), but i do reserve that time to lay around, watch TV, read non textbook related things, hang with friends, etc...

I loved my A&P class it was so interesting, and my professor was great, it was mostly alot of studying and memorization....did anyone have to disect a cat in there A&P class??? because we did.

Hang in there... Be sure to take it easy over Winter Break (which means no mini-mester classes!) Seriously, I should have taken that advice back in 2004. I ended up getting so burnt out from taking A&P I and Micro at the same time, that I totally switched my major to economics...

Boy do I regret that now! After attending a semester of law school, I've decided I want to be a nurse again. I wasted 3 years!

Just don't overload yourself, or you'll end up like I did....in debt up to my eyeballs from switching majors....I thought I could do it... I was a robot! But sometimes you just can't handle being stressed 100% of the time... I don't think it's good for our mental health.

Wow. This sounds alot like my story. Got a degree in '04 as well (although in Psychology). Had I given myself enough time to really think (I was working full-time and going to school full-time, and maintaining a 4.0), I would have realized that I wasn't on the right path. I went to law school as well (only I stuck it out an entire year...should have followed my instincts, and not my grades, and left after the first semester). I also totally agree about being stressed out 100% of the time not being good for you--that's a big part of the reason I left the legal field. Out of curiosity, how do you plan to handle your stint in law school on your nursing school application?

i am not doing by pre- classes anymore but i am a pre- law student and i am so very tired of going to school...i am also doing the excelsior program so when this semester ends i will have done 32 hours this semester...:uhoh3: i feel like my head will explode and nothing more can be crammed in it. every semester brings me a little closer to death as i see it....:uhoh3:

We dissected a cat in highschool honors bio...in AnP we dissected human cadavers;)
