SJSU, CSUEB, SFSU Nursing Fall 2018

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello fellow pre-nurses!

I am currently applying to EVC, SJSU, CSUEB, and SFSU's progams for the Fall of 2018. I wanted to get some feedback to any others applying to these programs. What's your GPA/TEAS score like? I'm scheduled to take my TEAS for the first time 12/2 and I'm pretty nervous. Hope to hear back!

Hi! I'm planning to apply to CSUEB, Sac State, SFSU, USF, CSU Stan

GPA: 3.9

TEAS: 88%

Healthcare experience and foreign language

I'm so worried about my TEAS idk if I should retake it or not.

Wow! You have amazing stats! I have a 3.75 GPA, and I scored an 84.7 on my TEAS. I am retaking it tomorrow to hopefully improve my score. I have healthcare experience but do not speak another language. I've also decided to not apply to SFSU because I don't think my stats are competitive enough. I think your TEAS score is awesome!! What's your top choice in terms of schools? Good luck! :)

Hi! I have been accepted to EVC's Nursing Program this Fall 2018. I had an overall GPA of 3.5 with a TEAS score of 74.9%. EVC accepts your TEAS score with a 62% and above, so I'm good! Good luck!

Hi!

My GPA is 4.0 and TEAS is 96.0%. I am planning on applying to SJSU, CSUEB, Sonoma State, Sac State, and Stanislaus. Though, SJSU is my top choice as I live in San Jose and have a great support system here. So excited (and nervous!) to finally start the application process and (hopefully) start nursing school in the fall.

If you are planning on retaking the TEAS, I would recommend the Mometrix or ATI study guides. There are also a lot of great Youtube videos and iPhone apps for TEAS preparation that I found helpful while getting reacquainted with the concepts.

Good luck everyone!

Wow j_ssica,

Those are amazing stats!! I'm pretty sure you'll get into SJSU. SJSU is my top choice as well since I live here in SJ, but I also got into EVC's nursing program so that's my backup. I took the TEAS again this past Saturday and I should get my results tomorrow. I used the ATI Test Prep as well as the Mometrix book. Suprisingly, the English portion was where I struggled the most. Good luck to you!! I hope you get in to SJSU! :)

Hi jessfxo,

I got into EVC as well but SJSU is my top choice. If I don't get into SJSU, I probably will be attending EVC because it's super close to me. If I go to EVC you'll be my classmate! Super exciting! Did you register for their pathophysiology course for this Spring semester?

Hi trouss,

EVC has a bridge program with SJSU starting the 3rd semester of nursing school. The classes take place every other Saturday at EVC. After you're done with your ASN at EVC, you can continue to go to SJSU and finish 1 year to get a BSN which is what I am planning to do. I also picked EVC due to cost. It is way cheaper than a university! I didn't register for their class due to my work hours :( I am a full-time employee and my times wouldn't work for the company.

Jessfxo,

Wow that's awesome, I wasn't even aware that EVC and SJSU did that! That definitely makes things a lot easier. And I totally agree about the cost. I'm currently working full time as well and I am going to be paying for nursing school on my own, so going somewhere close by makes a lot more sense.

Trouss,

EVC is the only school that has that type of agreement with SJSU. Since I've gone to the orientation for EVC it was also confirmed :) Which I'm liking that idea a lot since I know at a University it can be a bit expensive and I am on the same boat as you, I'm going to try working and paying for nursing school on my own with hopes of not getting student loans.

English was my weak spot as well; I got 87.5% on that portion while I scored in the 97%+ range in the other three sections. Personally, I felt that it was the area I could do the least studying for. I studied what was covered in the guides, but I felt as if there wasn't much else I could so as far as the spelling or word usage/meaning questions because there is no way of knowing what words they would ask about. Luckily, I was able to make up for it in the other areas.

Thank you! Good luck to you, too! Someone started a SJSU Fall 2018 thread recently, so it might be worth it to check it out over the next few months to see what some of the competition will be like. :)

I know right? I'll get my score for my second attempt tomorrow. I'm really hoping I got an 86 or above. Looking back at the previous stats from Fall 2017/Spring 2018, a lot of students got in with a TEAS in the range of 85 and above. I will look for that thread, thanks a bunch! :)
