Sac State Fall 2016

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey all pre-nursing students, nursing students, and official nurses! I am (hopefully) transferring in the fall to the Sac State nursing program, though Chico State is also an option. I was wondering, does anyone have any idea how likely I am to get in by looking at my stats? If not, no worries, I'm sure this question gets asked a lot. :)

My Nursing GPA will be at the end of this semester: 3.889 (I'm an all A student, except for my first semester where I got a B...I was 16 at the time, I have an excuse!)

My TEAS Test score will hopefully be a 95 (that's a guesstimate, based on the ATI practice tests/study guide)

Extra Points: Possible the 3 points for Healthcare work experience for Sac, definitely for Chico. Also, I'm from Yuba county, so that gets something extra with Chico.

Ideas? Help me out folks!

Is that your nursing GPA for Sac or Chico? Also, since you have not taken the TEAS yet, you can't figure out how many points you have in that area. Sac is good at publishing the stats for the last admitted cohort. Look at what the minimum points were for fall '15 and you will get a good idea on what you need to score on the TEAS to give yourself a good chance of getting in. Good luck!

Disregard the above post as it's for spring 2016.

It's for both. :) And I looked at the stats for the last one. Sheesh, that's high! I've got 43 points with my nursing GPA, and 3 for healthcare experience. Now, to score high on the TEAS. I'm a good test taker, and I'm studying my butt off, so hopefully that pays off! Thanks for the well wishes!

No worries, it was still an interesting read. :)

I recommend retaking any prerequisites you have less than an A in (as long as it's only your second attempt at the course). Sac State SON will calculate your prereq GPA using the highest grade. Every point helps.

Keen Observer, I recognize you from SFSU forum! Congrats on getting into both schools :)

Would you say they are generous with supplemental pts? My application included 3 of the 4 areas, but I don't want to assume I automatically receive full pts for each. Worst case, my score is 73 (GPA/TEAS) and my best possible score is 82. I'm feeling on the cusp of being cut even if I do get full supp pts :(

Hi all,

I am also applying for fall 2016. I'm so nervous. I have 77 points total. 4.0 GPA and a 87% on the teas with 3 points for Healthcare experience. I am on the cusp of previous cut off point totals so am holding my breath for the next month till I hear. Wish you all the best of luck!

I feel your pain as well! I'm on the cusp with 77 too! Fingers crossed for everyone applying!

 1. We received over 440 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 81 points—the applicant ranked 160 has 73 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent to Enroll process, but we regret it may be higher than previous fall terms, http://www.csus.edu/HHS/nrs/programs/undergraduate/traditional/Docs/app_pool_stat_1-29-16.pdf.
 2. Admission decisions will be emailed as follows:

 • Candidates ranked 1-160 will be notified in late April just before registration opens on May 2.
 • Candidates ranked 161 or higher, based on student-reported data, will be notified Friday, April 15 after 5 p.m.

Wow!! 81!

I know! It's looking like a cut off of 78. Which means I will be a point shy. Guess we will have to wait and see.
