Questions For Beth Isreal And Lich Students

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi All,:lol2:

I am thinking of applying to the nursing program in 2008. Is it true that if you do not have high school biology and chemistry, you will not be admitted?

What is ATOP?

When does the evening program actually start?

What are the evening hours?

How are the classes and instructors like?

What tips can you offer to prospective students who are desperate to be admitted?

Thank you soooo much, I hope that was not too much.

Hi

I am currently a student at BI who is thinking about dropping out because I am having second thoughts about becoming a nurse. That being said - I think that BI is great. Everyone is so nice - instructors are well informed and very approachable.

ATOP = Thursdays (3-6), Fridays (8-1:30), Saturdays (8-12:30)

Evening hours = Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (5-9:45)

Good luck with your search

Thanks so much for the info. I am sorry to hear that your thinking of dropping out, I know how hard you worked to get this far, so this must be a difficult decision.

I too, wanted to apply to BI, is it as competitive as it sounds?

How are the classes there?

Again, thanks for your help I pray that everything works out for your best interest.

Hi Triple A

I'm also in my first year at BI in the ATOP program

I don't know how the evening program works only that the program started this fall.

But as far as ATOP

You have your lectures on Thurs and fri, lab on fri and clinical on sat.

I'm having a great time there, its tough and alot of work especially since I am also working 40 hrs at my job.

Yes you will need some form of basic bio and chem. If you did't take them in high school i think you can take a basic form in college.

Tips I can offer

is to attend an open house, apply early you can start submitting your information as soon as you can and they will create a file for you, study for the NLN entrance exam and score well on it, the higher you score the better, the earlier you apply the better. Give them everything they ask for, if you are missing things chances are your app won't be fowarded to the admin committee.

Call them to check up on your file and find out what you else you need to submit. You'll need alot of patience too.

Good luck to you

I hope this helps

Can I ask about pre-req? If I would like to go to BI, do I need it, how I understand, no, but why everybody take them?

if yes, which exacly?

And also would like to ask about composition, where can I take the course to prepare for it, and what is the name of it?

Hello, no it is not necessary to take the pre-reqs. The school has several scheduling options, traditional scheduling options where classes are mon thru fri and you can take all pre-reqs and nursing courses then. There are also the ATOP and Evening scheduling program where it is necessary to take all or most of the pre-reqs to qualify for this scheduling option. Check out the school's curriculum on their website to see which pre-reqs you need. As for composition i believe you can take that at any school or online just clear the class with them first before you take it.
