Potential school to school transfer to Rutgers nursing

I am a transfer student from a NJ community college to Rutgers New Brunswick SAS this fall. I know that in order to major in nursing at Rutgers I have to wait until next fall. I have taken many of the pre reqs at my community college. If I finish up the first and second year courses this year, and get admitted to the nursing program, will I be able to start at the clinical level? There is no way I can afford to do four years, only three. Also, I plan on taking general chem this semester and the second one in the spring, so I can fall back into biological sciences if not admitted into the nursing. Does general chem one and two cover the Chemistry of Life requirement? Any help and suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Have you tried speaking with an admissions, academic or nursing program advisor at Rutgers to get the most accurate answer? Most community colleges have academic advisors for transitioning/transferring to four year schools. I believe in most schools chemistry of life is only covered by organic and/or biochemistry. (Looking at the Rutgers website it's Organic BioChemistry for the Chemistry of Life requirement. I've never seen a combined organic biochemistry course so that may be unique to Rutgers )

Hi, yes I have emailed them and have not heard a response yet. In the meantime I was wondering if anyone on here knew. I heard that chem one and two fulfill it but I'm not sure where exactly I heard that.

According to the course sheets only organic biochemistry fulfills the requirement. Knowing the content of general chem1&2 vs organic or biochemistry, general chemistry does not usually cover organic or biochemistry so that makes sense.

i would highly recommend talking to them directly and figuring out what pre-reqs they accept or dont.

rutgers is also a little finicky with their chem classes, (my friend graduated from there with a bio degree), and other pre-reqs. certain classes they prefer to be taken on campus rather than be transferred in.

Does anyone know that if you have all the first and second year classes, if you can start at the clinical level?

1-in regards to the organic biochem.=i was told it had to that course chem1&2 were not a substitute.

2-in order to start clinical & be part of the nursing school you must matriculate to the program. If you have complete all the pre-reqs, now apply to the program. No clinical assignments are appointed until your officially a RU-Student Nurse

**this all being said....the merger Btwn UMDNJ & RU (which became official by board of governors on June 1,2014) may have things changing? Keep harassing them for a response!***
