is it possible to take all these pre-reqs in a year?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have to take English1&2, A&P1 and 2, w/ labs Chem 1 and 2 w labs, microbiology w/ labs and college algebra. Have any of you finished this quickly?

I was thinking of taking A&P1 and English 1 this summer.

A&P2 w/ lab, chem 1 w/ lab, college algebra and english 2 during the fall

and then take micro, chem 2 w/ labs and stat during the spring

what do you guys think?

I was going to suggest that several courses that you are looking to take may be pre-reqs for other courses.

My college requires Eng prior to any of the other courses you listed. Chem is often a prereq for A&P and algebra is often a prereq for Chem.

So, I would break it down more like this:

Summer - Eng 1 and Algebra and Chem 1 (if you can take chem without algebra first)

Fall - Eng 2, A&P 1, chem 2

Spring - A&P 2 and Micro

I think that no matter how you break it down, it is a very full schedule with lots of science in a relatively short timeperiod. Especially for a 1st semester college student.

I actually like this schedule a lot more. I'm kinda nervous to take 3 classes during the summer aren't they extremely fast paced?

It depends on your school and your comfort with the materials. How are you when it comes to math, science and English? Did you have a couple of years of algebra in high school? How did you do in those courses?

Depending on your school, summer term might not be all that much shorter than a regular term. If you are on tri-mesters or quarters they will all be the same in terms of length.

It is a crazy load for a summer for someone who has never taken a college course before. But, if you are good in those subjects, it may not be too bad. Honestly, I have to admit that I never took either English 1 or Algebra in college. I took AP english way back when in H.S. and received college credit for it. Even 20+ years later, it still counts. And, I started in Calc II in college, so have never had to go back and do Algebra. So, I honestly, cannot say I know how difficult those courses will be.

Can you take college courses while still in H.S? In Ohio our H.S. students can take actual college courses (on the state) for credit. So, you could get the english and math out of the way even before graduation. Just a thought if your school allows it.

I am currently attempting to take all (31 hours) of my pre-reqs in a year also, so that I may have them done in order to apply to NS in July '11. How I have them broken down is as follows:

Currently taking: Eng/Comp1, Psych, Interpersonal Comm., Art Appreciation (all online) (12)

Spring 2011: Growth & Life Span, Microbiology, A & P 1, Kinesiology Elective (12)

Summer I 2011: A & P 2, Sociology (7)

I'm taking it one day at a time, but for now this is my goal. It looks like you have 29??? credits so I'm sure it can be done. Good Luck and try not to get too overwhelmed thinking about what you have to do over the course of a year, just do what you can this semester and take it from there. Oh and if you are good in English (or algebra) then look into "credit-by-test". They have this at our school, you can study and its just one big test and you get credit for the class. Just a thought. :D

i'm good at science and english. i'm alright at math i took 2 years of algebra. I have taken 9 AP classes alll through high school it was pretty intense so hopefully that gave me a feel on what college is like. I got credit for all of them but I have to re-take it anyway so the nursing school can give me points.
