Pell grant for child care

I know that you can get a Pell Grant to help pay for your tuition but I was wondering if the Pell Grant can also extend to paying for child care while you are in school. Does anyone know?

Well Im not sure about that you may want to ask the financial aid office for your college, but at my college we have a daycare on campus and my son goes there. They offer a childcare scholarship and it really helps us out. Maybe you should ask them about that.

A pell grant is sent directly to the school to pay for education, books, etc. If there is monies left over you will be sent a check for the balance. Check with your state. I live in Rhode Island and there is a daycare assistance program. Call you State Department of Human Services.

I'm not sure about the pell grant, but I work for Social Services in Colorado and we do offer child-care assistance for student parents and/or working parents. This assistance is offered based on income and typically you only have to pay a fraction of (if any) normal daycare costs. Check with your local Department of Social Services (usually under government listings in the phone book).
