A&P I Spring 2013

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I did not see another thread, so I thought I would start one for fellow students to chat and get support. Anyone else taking A&P I this spring?

It gets a lot harder than chemistry. I hate chemistry too, and so far, I'm seeing that was the easiest chapter. If I were you, I'd start studying your bones *now* little by little.

I took A&P last year and aced it. I'm just re-taking it because my science credit didn't transfer to my new school. I don't find the chemistry sections hard, I find them boring, which is why I'm ready to move on to the fun anatomy material.

Oops, my bad. Your post gave the impression you hadn't. Good luck!

Finally got my exam grade back. Good thing too, cause I was stressing about it all weekend. I really dislike select all that apply questions! I was second guessing myself all weekend thinking I got a lot of them wrong. Surprisingly, I got a 110 on my exam! (Yay for bonus questions)

I'm so relieved cause that gives me a nice buffer for the histology/muscles exam. I have my first lab practical in a few weeks and its freaking me out! I've never had a practical exam before (for some reason my chemistry professor only did written exams) so I think the fear of the unknown is adding to my anxiety! Does anyone know what the practicals are actually like?

How is everyone else doing?

Way to go meeep! My test was supposed to be wednesday, I studied for it and was totally prepared to get an "A". Then today my professor said that he's never done this is 13 years of teaching, but he pushed the test back to friday because no one in my class knew what there heads from their butts! He's a great teacher and I was embarrassed to be a part of such an awful group of students that wasn't learning from him!

Anyways, i have an extra 2 days to study, but I didn't need it, and quite frankly am a little irritated!

First exam for me is Wednesday, hopefully he posts grades quickly.

My exam got pushed back as well. Instead of being this Thursday it will be the next. We weren't able to finish covering all of our basic cell biology this past Thursday evening by 9:30 and I guess he was getting a few glazed over eyes in the class so we had to cut it off for the night. All of this information is like review to me though. Lots of biology and covering cells in my previous biology/zoology classes I took for my first degree. Only the body regions/planes were a bit tougher since I was learning that for the first time.

Test on valentines day kind of cruddy. I don't even know if we leave after the test or wait around and have more class time. On a side note- I need to study some more. Nutrition class online is taking over my life!

I was considering taking Nutrition as a Maymester course...should I reconsider that?

Jeez, Chelsea! I would be annoyed too! It sucks that you have to suffer just because the rest of the class are slackers.I feel like a lot of people in science classes either don't pay attention in class, or they don't study at all outside of class (or maybe a little of both, haha!) My teacher told us today how over half the class missed what I thought was a fairly straightforward and easy question. I was thinking to myself, was everyone asleep in lecture? I distinctly recall her going over that particular topic several times even!

I am or should I say a lot of other students in class are frustrated with the teacher we have. first of all this is her first time teaching college level, second she is a biology high school teacher. She does not know how to teach A&P. I am learning myself. And the part that sucks (excuse my phrase) is that the lecture slides she gives us does not coincide with the book or the quizzes she gives us!! She started to give us quizzes the second day of class and its every class meeting she does that. ( meet tues and thurs). I am disappointed. :( because I feel we are her "experimental" students because this is her first time teaching this subject. :/

Hey Meep! We just got our grades back as well this morning and I got 101!!! Was pretty happy w myself. I agree with u. I too was stressed ALLL weekend and the cause was those dang select all questions. I had quite a few and was wondering if I was correct or not! Congrats on your 110! We are rocking it :-D now to start stressing for test 2 and the practical :-/. I'm scared lol

Meep are u referring to the question about Lipids? OMG I was shocked too. She gave everyone credit but I initially got it right and wondered how anyone could get that wrong lol

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm also taking A&P 1 this semester. So far so good, but I have to say it's definitely a challenge. It's like learning a brand new language. I had my first exam last week and I got an 87. I was bummed out until I learned that the class average on the test was a 67. :o

I'm just wondering if any of you have come across any online videos that have been helpful? I used Khan Academy and Bright Storm for chemistry and those were super helpful. My instructor is very intelligent and certainly knows the material but I feel like he tends to complicate certain topics more than what's necessary. And the textbook tends to be the same.
