Nursing school with prerequisites included

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello!

I've been looking at many nursing programs, specifically the BSN post bacc because I already have a bachelor's degree in another field.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any nursing programs that have the prerequisites included? I know that Herzing University in Florida offers this and as of now I'm leaning towards that, but wondering if anyone else knows of any other programs.

If not, I will most likely start with Herzing to complete my A&P 1&2 and microbiology.

Specializes in Rehab, Ortho-Spine, Med-Surg, & Psych.

Hello! I'm a Herzing Alumni from Winter Park, FL.

Prerequisite credit courses are transferable to/from any accredited institution. The nursing core classes are not. Once you start your core somewhere, stick with it to the end. If tuition cost is not a concern, go ahead.

If you're looking to save money...

* I would complete my prerequisites at Valencia College. But, if you only need these 3 classes, perhaps you feel most comfortable staying in one place. It's up to you.

Valencia College, Orlando, Florida

* St Petersburg College has an online BSN program.

* University of Central Florida (UCF) also has an online second-degree BSN program.

However, there is no denying that it is easier and faster to get into Herzing than the other options I have mentioned.

Best wishes!

It is a 16 month program. Are you certain that the 16 months includes the pre-reqs? My ABSN program was 15 months with core nursing classes only.

Thank you!

How was your experience with Herzing?

Did you go through the ABSN program?

Oh, with my pre-reqs, it will take about 22 months, so about 2 years total which isn't too bad.

I love the "if tuition costs are not a problem" statement. But I really love your very reputable recommendations. (collegescorecard.ed.gov)

The issue I have with any student's urgency to get into nursing school is just that. It smacks of desperation over common sense and economics and this makes you vulnerable to the shysters of the world.

Any school that makes it a breeze to get into should be held suspect even given the fact that Herzing holds not for profit status. This designation is a start but not the be all and end all. Herzing is nonetheless an expensive school.

Standards of admission are also important unless you prefer to pay too much in tuition to sit in a class full of dullards.

So while Herzing has a pretty good graduation rate, I believe the previous poster has done well by you by affording you valuable advice with great alternative options.

Hello again,

I went to Herzing for the Associates of Science in Nursing degree. It was grueling. Although nursing school is, it didn't help that at the time they had a revolving door of professors and many rules were changed every semester. Although, I have heard it's better now.

I did not go through their ABSN program. Too expensive for me. I was already carrying a heavy load with the ASN, so I went to SPCollege for my BSN.

Best wishes!

Rasmussen College has no entry requirements except for a low score on the TEAS test. Supposedly it only taks 18 months to complete the program for an ASN-RN. The program even has all the prerequisites worked into those eighteen months, with many non core nursing courses available online.

I was going to give it a try until I did some deeper research of the school and learned how low their graduation rates were and the NCLEX pass rate was less than half the incoming classes. I don't know much about Herzing, but I would do some extensive research on how many students actually complete the program in the advertised amount of time or at all. I think some schools publish their graduation rates out of the number of students entering the final term who pass not the amount that pass the final term from the incoming class.
