Mercy School of Nursing Charlotte Wait List

Hi,
I applied to the fall semester at Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC and just received notification that I've been placed on their wait list. The letter provided little information on the process. It says "August is filled at present, but we will notify you promptly if space becomes available." I'm just wondering if anyone has found themselves in a similar situation and what the outcome was? I have a BA in a unrelated field and a graduated with a good GPA (3.42) so I'm a bit surprised I was wait listed. Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Even though your GPA is good most likely there are more applicants with higher ones than yours. Did you complete all the pre-reqs? I hope they call you soon and you can start school.

I've completed all of the prerequisites except for Anatomy I and II which I will be taking over the summer.

I actually received an acceptance letter from Mercy over the weekend. Similar situation, I have a BA in another field however I requested their part-time evening/weekend program. I know they rank the people on the waitlist and as people either decline the acceptance or do not return their deposit they turn to the waitlist. I know it requested my information and deposit be returned by 3/24 if that helps any. Best of luck to you!

I am currently a student at Mercy in my second semester. They are very good at calling you if a space becomes available. I was on the waitlist for fall of 2008, but I had finished all my pre-req's....they called me two weeks before the semester began, they told me I jumped up the list because my grades were really great in my completed pre-req. I also have a B.S. degree. If you have to wait, my suggestion would be to get all of your pre-req's out of the way. The first semester is a killer, they jump between subjects and there is a lot of clinical work. Plus, the tests are based around the NCLEX, so they are completely different than any test you have probably taken. It is not impossible, but they make it hard for a reason.....they want you to be the best nurse possible. Also, if you aren't a CNA, I would suggest going ahead and getting certified. The first exam is based off of basic nursing skills, it will also help you with your clinicals. Good luck....you will love it, its a small school so lots of one on one attention.

Hello Mercy students-
I, too, have a BA and MS in other fields. I am a part-time CNA as well, and I am interested in the part-time evening/weekend program. I cannot find any info or proper website to talk about the programs. What are the hours? Prereqs? Nights of School? Etc...? Can anyone provide me with a link with more info?
Thanks so much!
