LPN vs RN

Hi everyone! i need some advice,

I have my Bachlors degree in Business, but want to go back to school for nursing. I have student loans already, so am hestitant to get into more debt.

So I applied to the ASN program at Laguardia Community College, but didn't make "rank" . I am now thinking of going for their LPN program.

Would I be "selling myself short" working as an LPN? How is the job market and salary for LPN in the NYC area? And what steps could I take after I become an LPN to get to a BSN?

I'm was in the same situation. I missed the application deadlines for the ADN/ABSN programs in my area, but wanted to switch careers ASAP. I decided to sign up for an LPN program at a vocational school. I truly regret it. I wish I would have continued working in a career that paid well and saved money for another year before making the rash decision to sign up for the program I am in. All of the LPN to RN programs in my area require 2 years of experience to be considered. If your ulitimate goal is to become an RN, like mine, I would wait to reapply next year as becoming an LPN could slow the process down.

A big NO! Do not go for LPN. Wait out and reapply to ABSN or generic BSN programs.
