Im frustrated and need advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am an Rn student in Indiana and I feel that I am going to lose it. I am not sure what path I should be on. I am in my last two pre-req's for RN (ASN)(Microcomputers and Advanced Physiology). I have taken the LPN entrance exam about a week ago and tommorow I am taking the TEAS for RN program. I am frustrated that my school is only taking 20 students into the program and that is out of two schools of hopeful nurse canidates, major competition!!! I would like some advice, either I stay in the school I am currently attending which is IVY TECH or should I look into Purdue University North Central? I dont want to settle for the LPN program, I have hopes of furthering my education. I really would love any advice as to stay or go if I am not excepted into the RN program. Or should I just start out on the LPN program and convert to the RN later? I am really frustrated

I am kind of in the same boat to some degree..... there is only one CC that offers the ADN program and it's so impacted that we have to be in a lottery to get in. The local State College is also impacted with only students with outstanding GPA's being accepted.

The last route for us is LVN then bridge over to RN. It may take you just a little bit longer to get there, but unless you hit the lottery, it's the fastest way.

I am going for the ADN lottery and State College route.... if I don't get in the first try then I will go the LVN route too. Well.... that's my plan for today anyway! It is very frustrating!

Best Wishes!

I too am enrolled in a CC that has a very competitive nursing program. I have completed all preq"s for LPN and missing A&P1 for the ADN program. I am currently taking the A&P1 done in may. My dilema was do I apply for the ADN RN even with an incomplete prereq or do I apply for the LPN. Because so many have already completed their prereqs, this would lower my chances of getting in. So after much thought I applied for the LPN program. This will be my stepping stone into the RN program. Less competition, Many fast traks all over the place for Lpn to Rn. Plus may get my education paid for also.....I take the Teas on March 23rd....please say a prayer for me.

The bottom line for you is what feels right, how is your GPA etc.....

all the Best to you

See what happens with IYV Tech first, but there

are a lot of good schools in NWIndiana for nursing.

Have you looked into Valpo U? They have a great

program but can be more expensive than IVY Tech.

Thank you for your reply, although I have completed all my pre-req's for the ASN , I believe you are right. Im going to start the LPN. I wish you the best on the TEAS test, I will warn you though it is a little harder than the NET test. I took my TEAS test 2 days ago, of course I scored low in the math section. Im not so good with intermediate algebra (graphing etc). Other than that I did excellent. I wish you the best and I will definately pray for you
