I got my "alternate" letter May 5th. I was #2 on the list. By June 1st I was officially accepted. Did you find out where you are on the alternate list?

I have a question for u not advice. How long did it take for u to get accepted and what was your GPA if u don't mind my asking? I am reallly getting discouraged with myself.I'm starting to rethink nursing as a career for me. I was reading your post and I was really inspired. I would apprecaite any more good news u have. Congrats!!

I can answer this question seeing as how I was accepted from an alternate list. Application deadline was Feb 10th I believe...I got my alternate list letter stating my alternate number sometime in either March or April. Got a call at the beginning of May offering me a spot in this upcoming fall semester. I had applied to an ABSN program prior to applying to a local CC and was not accepted. My undergrad GPA is a 2.88 my science pre req GPA is like a 3.2. I was number 10 on the alternate list and just found out that a girl who was #29 on the same list was accepted for Fall '09.

After being rejected by the first school I was extremely discouraged and had considered other health related careers but then I remembered why I chose nursing and told myself that if this is what I really want, then I wouldn't give up on my dream especially seeing as how I have given up in the past only to regret it later.

Congradulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:I am waiting for my letter now, I hope and pray I get in for fall 09 my gpa is 2.83 not great but I sure I still have a chance with my faith in God. A little advise I was given from my friends now that are in the program. Never miss class! And when you have tests, they are real life story questions on what you would do in certain situations as a nurse. What they told me is don't answer them on how you would do what it is asking, answer them on how your teacher would do them. That was the biggest advise they gave me, and all the questions are like that and it is nothing like our pre reqs. They did say they did not have much time for anything else. I hope everything goes well for you.:nurse:

I find it hard to believe that you don't have a life while in nursing school. I personally know people who were still able to party and work while in nursing school. They graduated on time and past the NCLEX their first try. Time management is key.

Good luck! And don't worry about not having a life in nursing school. I've done nursing school once already (I'm a LPN) and it's not as time consuming as they make it out to be. Just make sure you have good time management skills.

Congrats! We are in the same boat as I got accepted too for Spring 2010 and also on an alternate list. We all have to turn our letters in on June 26th to say that we accept the spot we were offered and if people don't turn it in by that date, they will go down the alternate list and offer spots for Fall to the people who were accepted to Spring. Our orientation is July 17th, so I'm excited to find out more! Good luck to you!

thanks ! well here we go first of all dont give up i am a good example to say that if u really want to be a nurse don't give up ... just keep trying to get there even though sometimes u think that maybe its not meant to be. this was my first time applying to the program although i had a lot of set backs in the past with my act scores and my pre reqs....i had a 3.5 gpa and a act score of a 23 ..........and i even had one c in my transcript it was for english ... i suck at it :uhoh3:. and even with that gpa and my act scores my though of getting in was slim bc i would hear of all these stories of how u need perfect grades which mine where mostly b and some a's and one c ...but i still applied and got in .... dont know how it is in your school but when i was taking my pre reqs alot of the classmates were going for nursing so when it came to test or quizzes they didn't want to help you or answer any questions you might have it was like you were there competition and it really sucked bc they didn't want to talk to u in order for them not to feel obligated to help you.........i hope once in the program things are diff ... i mean we would be all in the same boat right??.....:D one thing that worries me is that i never been the popular kid in class where i am always picked to be in the group kinda thing and to what i hear having a study group is very important in nursing ... my best wishes go out to you !!! dont give up!!:D
