I am thinking of having a plan B in case I don't get into the school close to me.

How many nursing schools did you apply to?

Did you get into your first pick?

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to apply to the two comm college programs closest to me just to make sure I don't put all my eggs in one basket. I would hate to hope for one not get it and have to wait.

I think it depends on how applicants get selected...I applied to 8 ADN programs, and so far have been accepted into one and selected as an alternate for another and rejected from 2. Still waiting to hear back from 4 more programs. Good luck!! It definitely helps to apply to as many as you can!

I applied to only 1. There are 2 nursing programs in my area. One is an ADN program and the other is a BSN program. The ADN program actually has a better reputation for turning out quality, skilled nurses. They have more clinical hours and more practical, hands-on experience than the BSN program. The BSN program is known for turning out RN administrators.

So, I really wanted to get in to the ADN program. The hospitals here are more inclined to hire you if you get your RN from the ADN program and then do an RN-to-BSN bridge. So, that was my Plan A. In order to apply to the BSN program, I would have needed to complete an additional Organic Chem, Pathophysiology, Nutrition and a 300 level Sociology course. Finishing those courses would have been my Plan B in order to apply to the BSN program, since they take applications twice a year.

I'm so happy I got in to my first choice without having to take the additional classes. Nursing school orientation is tomorrow. Can't wait!!!! :D
