How is TEAS V scored?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have to take the TEAS V soon and I scored an overall of 76% on the ATI online practice test I purchased. My school just requires that you score Proficient. Does anyone know what the percentage score cutoff for Proficient is? Is it based on each individual section (i.e. math, science, reading, language) or is it your combined overall score? I am worried because I struggled with the science portion...

First of all,The science on the online practice test is much harder than the actual TEAS V. However, all the concepts are the same. So just remember what was asked of you on that science part of online assessment A and B(whichever one you took), write them down if you can, and just study them. So I know it talked alot about mitosis in those online tests, so you would assume that mitosis would show up on the exam, which it does, so study everything you can about mitosis.

Anyway, your individual score(for example, the 76%) is based on all sections of the test. On the real exam, your score is adjusted according to the test's difficulty. So just averaging all 4 scores into one big test score isn't going to give you an accurate reading. That 76% you saw is based on your total test performance. I scored a 90 which "exemplary". So I guess proficient is the next grade down from that. I believe most people who take the test get proficient. Perhaps, if you look at the TEAS review that comes after the online assessment(i think its on the last page), you will see them explain how the teas is scored and other things that may help you know exactly what deems as proficient.

It varies from school to school. Call the schools you are interested in and ask them what the scores are. For one school, Proficient might be 70% and at another school it might be 65%. Each school sets their own parameters for what the scores mean.

Good luck!

Ati scores the test under each category. Proficient starts at 58.7-77

There is a study by ATI you may find interesting. The link is for a 2MB PDF file.
