How do I write a research paper???

Ok this may sound kinda nutty but I don't have a lot of experience in writting research papers. I finished up grading my sciences last spring and we wrote one research paper in Bio. Although I got a 10 out of 10 on it our tearch was a bit lenient on our papers because he wanted us to have a glimps of what its like to write a paper.

I start school in the fall and I want to do as well as I can because I want to get my masters. Any suggestions? I've been told I will be writing a research paper every week!

The 'research paper' format is defined by APA - it is called "APA style" and here is a tutorial on the basics The Basics of APA Style It may be awkward at first because of the way you have to cite references, but you'll get used to it. Verbs are always in passive, and everything is third person. You always begin by making an introduction that establishes the purpose/relevance of your topic, then provide a literature review, followed by conclusions. The same general format is used even for formal papers such as theses and dissertations... except they have more extensive requirements.

I recommend assigning yourself a few over the summer also... or picking some assignments off the internet (English teacher sites will have some, so will some college courses - either in the syllabuses or in the course criteria). If your college has a writing resource center, they can give you some feedback.

Using Peer-reviewed journals are the key! And yes, make yourself familiar with APA style/format.
